Buckingham Palace Announced the Queen’s Next Big Outing, and It’s with Camilla Parker Bowles

Queen Elizabeth’s next royal outing will mark a super-special occasion for Westminster Abbey.

The 93-year-old monarch will celebrate the 750th anniversary of the gothic abbey alongside Camilla Parker Bowles, according to The Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English. The event will mark 750 years since the original structure was rebuilt into the church it is today.

Although the remodeled Westminster Abbey was reopened on October 13, 1269, the anniversary service will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. (So mark your calendars, ladies and gents.)

The announcement read, “The Queen, accompanied by The Duchess of Cornwall, will attend a service at Westminster Abbey to mark 750 years since Edward the Confessor’s original church was rebuilt under the reign of King Henry III.”

Westminster Abbey was originally constructed during the reign of St. Edward the Confessor. When King Henry III came into power in 1216, he decided to remodel the original floor plan. The anniversary service will honor the rebuilding of the church—not the original construction.

The gothic abbey holds a special place in the royal family’s heart. Not only has it hosted every coronation since 1066, but it has also been the setting for several special occasions, including 16 royal weddings.

October 15 can’t come soon enough.
