Camilla Parker Bowles Launches Virtual Book Club with 4 Reading Suggestions

It’s official! Camilla Parker Bowles has launched her virtual book club: The Reading Room.

The Duchess of Cornwall, 73, recently debuted her new literacy initiative by unveiling the first four book picks: The Mirror and The Light by Hilary Mantel, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, Restless by William Boyd and The Architect’s Apprentice by Elif Shafak.

Bowles announced the exciting news in a video on The Reading Room’s official Instagram page. “To me, reading is a great adventure,” she says in the clip. “I’ve loved it since I was very small, and I’d love everybody else to enjoy it as much as I do. You can escape, and you can travel, and you can laugh, and you can cry. There’s every type of emotion humans experience in a book.”

Each novel will be accompanied by a “Book Club Kit,” which will feature questions that are designed further the virtual discussion among readers.

According to social media, Bowles will continue to offer reading suggestions on an eight-week basis. “Over the next eight weeks we’ll be featuring each book for a fortnight, hearing from the authors, and providing thoughts for discussion,” the caption read. “We hope you’ll join the conversation.”

Guess we won’t have a problem hitting our reading goal for 2021.
