Kate Middleton & Prince William Send Meghan Markle Birthday Message from Across the Pond

Meghan Markle is marking a major milestone today. The Duchess of Sussex is turning 40 years old. And even though it was only the middle of the night in Los Angeles, a ton of well-wishes began rolling in quite early from her family across the pond, including from Kate Middleton and Prince William.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a special tribute to the birthday girl on their joint social media accounts (both Twitter and Instagram). “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!” the couple captioned an old photo of Markle. The image, which was shot during Meghan and Harry’s royal tour of Australia in 2018, features the duchess smiling and wearing a lei while sitting on Bondi Beach.

And they weren’t the only ones giving Markle a shoutout. Queen Elizabeth and her son, Prince Charles, also posted special messages online. “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!” Her Majesty captioned a slideshow on the official royal family Twitter account, while the Prince of Wales wrote, “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday.”

This is the second birthday that Markle will celebrate in California. Last year, the family of three (plus Doria Ragland) rang in the special day quietly at home due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, the now 40-year-old doesn’t have anything lavish planned for her special day. In fact, a source close to the family revealed that she is planning to celebrate "privately" at home with Harry, and their two children, Archie and baby Lilibet.

Wishing Meghan all the best during her first birthday as a mother of two. We’re sure Harry has something super special planned.
