super bowl seattle seahawks recipes

As the Seattle Seahawks gear up to take on the New England Patriots on Super Bowl Sunday (which is Feb. 8, BTW), you’ll want to be well-fueled to cheer on your team. What better way to do just that than with a spread that pays homage to the Emerald City? This mix of appetizers, mains, sides, drinks and desserts will keep your spirits high no matter what the game brings.

1. Salmon Burgers

  • Time Commitment: 45 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, <500 calories
  • Serves: 4

Salmon is a Seattle staple, and on game day, there’s no better way to savor it than as a hearty burger. If you don’t have a food processor, you can finely chop the meat with a chef’s knife (though the former will make things much easier). The slaw adds a nice crunch, and I’d recommend slathering each bun with a mix of mayo, a pinch of garlic powder and squeeze of lemon juice to really ramp up the flavor.

2. Seattle-Style Hot Dogs

  • Time Commitment: 35 minutes
  • Why I Love It: crowd-pleaser, beginner-friendly
  • Serves: 8 to 10

If you haven’t had a Seattle-style hot dog, you’re in for a treat. The bun is toasted and smeared with cream cheese, then topped with a frank and grilled onions. Those are the non-negotiables, though you can also add sauerkraut, jalapeños, mustard—or honestly, whatever toppings speak to your soul.

3. Dutch Baby Pancake

  • Time Commitment: 35 minutes
  • Why I Love It: vegetarian, beginner friendly, crowd pleaser
  • Serves: 4

Fun fact: Based off of a German dish called Pannenkoeken, the Dutch Baby as we know it was born in Seattle in the early 1900s. Manca’s, a diner that closed in the 1950s, is largely credited with popularizing the dinner plate-sized treat, and thankfully, it’s pretty easy to make at home. Top it however you like and serve it by the slice to everyone at your watch party.

4. Slow Cooker Chicken Teriyaki

  • Time Commitment: 6 hours, 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: beginner-friendly, slow cooker dinner, kid-friendly
  • Serves: 4 (as an entrée)

Slow cookers are the real MVP of game day. Put yours to great use with this easy entrée. While true Seattle-style chicken teriyaki features chicken pieces that are marinated overnight then grilled, you’ll get a similar effect from this dish slow-cooking all day. Serve it over rice or in lettuce cups, if you’re looking to add something green to your Super Bowl spread.

5. Slow Cooker Spiked Cinnamon Lattes

  • Time Commitment: 3 hours, 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: slow cooker recipe, <10 ingredients, special occasion-worthy
  • Serves: 12

If you were contemplating buying a second slow cooker, this might push you over the edge. (Because how can you choose between chicken teriyaki and these spiked lattes?!) This big batch cocktail will warm people up and prevents you from playing bartender all night, so you can actually catch the game (and just as importantly, the commercials).

6. Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket

  • Time Commitment: 35 minutes
  • Why I Love It: crowd-pleaser, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 8 to 10

Pigs in a blanket are a game day must-have but topping them with everything bagel seasoning truly takes things to the next level. The cheater’s aioli adds a nice tanginess to offset the buttery, savory app (and frankly, you could make a double batch to use on the salmon burgers).

7. Baked Mac and Cheese Bites

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour
  • Why I Love It: beginner friendly, kid-friendly
  • Serves: 48 bites

You could buy a few trays of Beecher’s Mac and Cheese and call it a day, but if you’re looking for a fun riff on the Seattle staple, try this app. The mac and cheese bites are baked in a mini muffin tray, making them ultra-portable and shareable. I recommend serving them with ranch or hot honey drizzled on top for added flavor (and flair).

8. Hot Honey Glazed Salmon

  • Time Commitment: 25 minutes
  • Why I Love It: high protein, <30 minutes
  • Serves: 4

If salmon burgers don’t speak to you, try this swicy take on seafood. This recipe shows you how to make hot honey from scratch (which requires just four ingredients and about 10 minutes’ time), but you could totally substitute store-bought. (I’m a big fan of Melinda’s.)

9. Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour
  • Why I Love It: one bowl recipe, beginner friendly, special occasion-worthy
  • Serves: 12

C’mon, you can’t talk about Seattle without talking about coffee. These cookies use instant espresso powder to get their java-infused flavor, and I highly recommend following recipe developer Erin McDowell’s advice to use chopped chocolate instead of chips for melty ribbons of cocoa throughout every bite.

10. Instant Pot Vegan Pho

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour, 15 minutes
  • Why I Love It: vegan, crowd-pleaser, Instant Pot recipe
  • Serves: 4 (as an entrée)

Seattle is known for its excellent pho, but if you’re too far away to order takeout, you might as well make a bowl at home. The Instant Pot speeds up your overall cook time, so you can whip this up an hour before the party, instead of babysitting the simmering broth all day.

11. Crispy Tofu Bánh Mì

  • Time Commitment: 36 minutes
  • Why I Love It: vegan, crowd-pleaser
  • Serves: 4 (as an entrée)

OK, maybe slurping bowls of pho seems a little too messy for your rowdy crew. Or maybe you’re looking for something to pair with it. Choose this tofu bánh mì. You can halve the sandwiches—or form them as sliders—to turn them into an app or serve them as is for a hearty main. With its crisp breading and vinegar-y veggies, even the hardcore carnivores among your group won’t miss meat.

12. Loaded Baked Potato ‘Chips’

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour and 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: crowd-pleaser, beginner-friendly, gluten free, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 6 to 8

As much as I love a loaded baked potato, I love this one-bite variety even more. Salty, cheesy, bacon-y—they’re impossible to resist. Plus, they’re impressive with minimal effort on your part.

13. Mini Cinnamon Apple Tarts

  • Time Commitment: 1 hour
  • Why I Love It: <10 ingredients, kid-friendly, vegetarian
  • Serves: 6

Hey, something the Seahawks and Patriots have in common: Both hail from regions known for their apples. (FWIW, Washington produces the most apples out of any state in the country.) You can nerd out and share that fact with everyone at your party as you serve these easy tarts, but they’ll probably be too distracted by the game—and stuffing these down their gullets—to notice. That’s fine. The end result is still delicious, and you’re the hero who brought them to the party.
