Calling All British Bakers! Mary Berry and Camilla Parker Bowles Will Judge Pudding Recipes for the Queen’s Jubilee

If you've ever wanted to feel like you were on The Great British Bake Off, well, now's your chance. An announcement was just made that one of the show's biggest stars, Dame Mary Berry, will be judging the Platinum Pudding Competition this year, alongside Camilla Parker Bowles.

The news was shared in a post on the Clarence House Instagram account, which read, “The Duchess of Cornwall and Dame Mary Berry have joined forces to judge #TheBigJubileeLunch and @Fortnums national Platinum Pudding competition, in which enthusiastic home bakers battle to find a brand-new recipe to mark Her Majesty’s Jubilee.”

In case you were unaware, Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating 70 years of service to the throne this year, and as a part of the celebration, Fortnum & Mason is putting on a competition to find the best British pudding to mark the historic occasion. (And if you didn't know, “pudding” is often used as a generic term for dessert in the U.K., whereas the American “pudding” would actually be called a custard.)

The winning recipe will be celebrated across the U.K., which was explained further in the Clarence House post. “Up and down the country on Jubilee weekend, the winning recipe will be recreated at street parties, family events and community gatherings as the Platinum Pudding centrepiece to celebrations,” the post read.

However, for those of us who don't live across the pond, the competition, titled The Jubilee Pudding: 70 Years in the Baking, will be broadcast on BBC One on Thursday, May 12 at 8 p.m. BST (3 p.m. EST).

The royal family and baking competitions? Say no more—we will definitely be tuning in.
