It's been two years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down from their official roles as royals, and recently, a fellow royal spoke up in support of the couple.
Princess Akshita of Mayurbhanj, a royal in the Odisha state in eastern India (and a descendant of the Bhanja dynasty), told Insider that she understood the decision made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. While discussing her own position as a royal, the princess said, “I never felt I had to be someone different or someone else to portray a certain image,” and she claimed she “hit the jackpot” with her family.
But in reference to the Sussexes, Princess Akshita said, “For them, it got harder and harder...I can imagine how suffocating it could be to live that life continuously, and have people hold you to a standard, which is impossible.”
