Kensington Palace Posts Vid of Kate Middleton's Radical Hair Change (& a Striking Pic of Her Standing Alone with William)

September was a busy one

Just one month ago, Kensington Palace shared an August Royal Rewind that was, well, kinda dull. That's because the royals spent much of August on vacation, meaning there weren't quite as many Prince William and Kate Middleton appearances as usual. September, however, was an entirely different story for the British royal family.

September 2025 was jam-packed with outings by all of our favorites, including Prince Harry making a surprise appearance in Ukraine, King Charles channeling his sister and Duchess Sophie standing alone in the woods.

To recap their busy month, Princess Catherine and Prince William shared a September Royal Rewind on their joint Instagram account. This includes striking videos, major hair changes and stunning tiaras.

Here, the best moments from the Kensington Palace September Royal Rewind.

As always, the first image announced Kensington Palace's monthly Rewind. This was followed by a slide from Catherine and Will's early-September visit to the Natural History Museum.

After a seven-week hiatus from royal duties, the couple both stepped out in London for a cause close to Kate’s heart. The Princess of Wales is patron of the Natural History Museum and this was her chance to get a first-hand look at the cultural institution’s newly re-opened gardens.

And, yes, it was confirmed that her hair was blonde (a major change that has since been reversed).

During the museum visit, cameras caught a gorgeous pic of Catherine standing alone in the rain.

The next slide in the September Rewind included a video highlighting dueling outings by the prince and princess.

On September 6th, the pair made separate appearances during the Women's Rugby World Cup. While Prince William attended the Wales against Fiji match at Sandy Park stadium in Exeter, Kate was 100 miles away at the American Express stadium, supporting the rival team during the England versus Australia match in East Sussex.

Of course, Catherine continued to show off her freshly blonde tresses in a half up, half down style.

Another major highlight from the month? The State Banquet hosted in honor of the U.S. president's visit to the U.K.

In a super striking photo shared on Instagram at the time (and revisited in the Rewind), the couple is dressed to the nines. Prince William looks sharp in a black tuxedo with bold red collar and cuffs, while Catherine dons a long-sleeve, mock-neck couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley with intricate gold lace detailing throughout.

As for the tiara? That's Queen Mary's Lover’s Knot Tiara. Yes, the one famously worn by Princess Diana.

“Ready for The State Banquet,” Kensington Palace casually captioned the photo at the time.

Also included in the monthly recap was Catherine's surprising hat choice. To cheer on England and the Red Roses rugby team ahead of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup Final, the princess shared a photo where she's wearing a red cowboy hat.

The Princess of Wales personally captioned her throwback pic: “Good luck England! Wishing the very best of luck to the @redrosesrugby in their Women’s Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham today. We’re so proud of you! C.”

As with previous months, the final image of the Royal Rewind was a "thank you" slide.

Here's hoping October brings just as many fun outings (with just as many hair changes for the princess).
