One thing is clear: Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie certainly enjoyed their trip to Japan.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh recently embarked on a three-day visit to the nation, where they dined at the British Ambassador’s residence in Tokyo, and met with Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko and Prince Hisahito.
After their trip, the Buckingham Palace Instagram account posted a carousel of photos of the visit, which featured a stunning shot of Duchess Sophie standing alone in the woods with a smile on her face (scroll through the slideshow above for the shot). In the picture, the royal could be seen wearing a multicolored shirt dress, which she paired with white pointed-toe pumps. Pulling her hair back into a sleek ponytail and keeping her makeup natural, she accessorized her ensemble with a beige bag.
Buckingham Palace captioned the post, “Goodbye and thank you, Japan! The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s visit has been all about looking to the future. From Tokyo to Koyasan and Expo 2025 Osaka, this trip celebrated the friendship between our two nations. Thank you for the warm welcome!” An additional post on their website noted that the Duke and Duchess also met with guests from MUSUBI partner organizations, such as Liverpool Football Club's International Academy, SSE Pacifico, Robert Walters and University College London.
They also continued the tradition of tree planting ceremonies, with a planting at the National Sumo Arena, and experienced Japan's traditional national sport of Sumo Wrestling ahead of the return of the Grand Sumo Tournament to the UK in October.
