Buckingham Palace Just Shared Photos of a Surprising Royal Family Member on IG—& It Definitely Isn’t Who I Expected

They're booked and busy

Between happy royal baby news from Princess Bea and honoring fashion icon Anna Wintour, the royal family's Instagram has been dropping some serious gems lately. But what really caught my eye is that the Buckingham feed is finally highlighting one royal family member we don't see very often: The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward.

Last month, Buckingham Palace released a series of photos of the prince visiting troops in Estonia while trudging through snow. But the royal family just shared a few more images of the Duke, and I'm pretty surprised to see him back for more. The IG slideshow shows Prince Edward in Mumbai Stadium chatting it up with students participating in his international award program, IAYP India, a cause committed to encouraging prospective students in the country to reach their full potential.

The caption reads, "The Duke of Edinburgh has been in Mumbai and Delhi to meet those participating in @IAYPIndia, a non-formal education and learning framework supporting young people to find their purpose, place and passion in the world."

It continues, "Since its inception in India in 1962, the Award has helped more than 150,000 students from 325 schools and educational institutions across the country."

But the posts don't just stop there. Days later, the palace shared more photos of Prince Edward on his trip to India, but this time he's joined by another royal family member, his wife, Sofie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.

While they were both there for more festivities celebrating IAYP, the caption revealed Sophie also took a trip to "Bhaktapur Hospital Maternity Wing to learn about maternal health and newborn care."

During their short pitstop in Nepal, the pair were also seen breaking a few royal rules by showing some rare PDA. While visiting the National Botanical Garden on Thursday, the Duke and Duchess were seen holding hands as they gracefully walked the grounds. See the photo below.

It's only the start of the year, but I predict we're going to be seeing a lot more of the Duke and Duchess in 2025.
