Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Call Out Spotify in Bold New Statement

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are calling on Spotify to make some adjustments—or else, their exclusive podcast deal might be in jeopardy. Dun dun dunnn.

Over the weekend, a spokesperson released a statement revealing that the royals have expressed their concerns to Spotify about “the all-too-real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.”

The warning was issued on behalf of their production company, Archewell Audio. Although the couple signed a multi-year podcast deal with Spotify back in 2020, the statement implied that for their working relationship to continue on its current path, Spotify has to make some changes.

“Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis. Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant mis- and disinformation every day,” it read, according to People magazine.

“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform,” the statement continued. “We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis.”

The spokesperson concluded by putting the ball in Spotify’s court. “We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does,” the statement read.

Your move, Spotify.
