Prince Charles & Camilla Parker Bowles’s New Anniversary Pic Contains a Special Nod to Their Engagement

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles celebrated their 15th anniversary with a little nod to their past.

The 71-year-old Prince of Wales and 72-year-old Duchess of Cornwall rang in their crystal wedding anniversary earlier this week with a candid photo of themselves snapped on the porch of their country home at Birkhall in Scotland.

They smiled at the camera, holding their Jack Russell terriers Beth and Bluebell (we still can’t get over those names) and reminded us of way back in 2005, when they announced their engagement.

Why? Well, back then, on February 10, the couple posed in the exact same place to share their engagement news with the world.

Notice the same wood paneling behind them, the wreath/floral accent placement, the green door and the stone façade. Not a lot has changed in the last 15 years.

In the more recent version of their porch portrait, however, Prince Charles and Camilla are sitting and more of their home is visible. They’re also noticeably more casual, since circumstances have dramatically changed since then. (Hello, social distancing.) The Prince of Wales only recently recovered from COVID-19 and he and the Duchess of Cornwall were separated in self-isolation for two weeks. They reunited on Tuesday of this week—just in time to mark their milestone wedding anniversary.

As you may remember, the couple met at a polo match in 1970 and eventually wed in a civil ceremony at Windsor Castle on April 9, 2005. They gathered for a Service of Prayer and Dedication at St. George’s Chapel afterward.

Here’s to relishing happy memories.
