Royal Fam Releases Brand-New Prince George Portrait for His Bday (Taken by Kate Middleton, of Course)

Prince George is about to turn eight years old (we know, we can't actually believe it either). But fortunately, we're the ones receiving a present.

In advance of the young royal's big day tomorrow, his family has released a never-before-seen portrait on the shared Cambridge Instagram account.

In the picture, George is seen flashing his signature grin—and is it just us or does he look an awful lot like his dad, Prince William? He is sporting a striped polo and a pair of royal blue shorts. (Phew, we almost thought he had outgrown shorts and moved onto pants for good.)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's IG account captioned the photo, "Turning eight(!) tomorrow," with a couple of emojis. And, of course, they let us know who was responsible for capturing this adorable moment, crediting Kate Middleton for her photography skills. They wrote, "[camera emoji] by The Duchess."

Royal stans shouldn't be too surprised by the release of the photograph, as it is tradition in advance of the Cambridge kids' birthdays. Louis and Charlotte each got their own birthday portraits as well.

Last year, the royal family released two brand-new pictures of Prince George in honor of his seventh birthday. In the first pic, the prince, who is third in line to the British throne, looks super casual in a camouflage t-shirt as he smiles into the camera. The second photograph features a preppier prince as he rocks an olive polo.

Happy early birthday, George. And Kate, please keep the stunning pics coming!
