Meet Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Adopted Dog

In late 2020, Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed a new puppy to the fam. Before the passing of their family pet, Lupo, the royal couple received the small puppy as a gift. And now, the name of the adorable pooch has *finally* been revealed.

People reported the name of their dog is (drumroll please) Orla. The dog made an official debut in Princess Charlotte’s newly shared birthday portraits for her 7th birthday. The snapshots were taken by Middleton herself and were posted to the couple’s official Instagram account.

The first photo featured the young royal seated next to the English Cocker Spaniel in a field of flowers. Charlotte sported a blue knit sweater with a polka dot Peter pan collar underneath. Meanwhile, she paired the look with a pair of navy slacks.

In November 2020, the family experienced the death of their previous longtime family dog. At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a special tribute post for Lupo on Instagram, who appeared to be laying on a sandy beach.

“Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away,” the caption read. “He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much,” and they signed the message with their initials.

Welcome to the family, Orla!
