Can't-Miss Entertainment Picks of the Week: ‘From Scratch,’ ‘Christmas with You’ & More

If you’re tired of scrolling through Netflix without being able to settle on something to watch, you’ve come to the right place. Our editors rounded up five of the best picks of the week, ranging from Emmy-worthy performances to brand-new holiday movies. So, without further ado, here are PureWow’s entertainment picks for the week of Monday, November 21, 2022.

PureWow Pick for Best Series to Transport You to Italy: From Scratch

Just the first episode will make you feel like you're traveling across the pond right from the comfort of your couch. There's plenty of breathtaking scenery in Italy, from the Ponte alle Grazie bridge to the Borgo Santi Apostoli. Even the food looks so delicious that you can practically smell and taste it (don't be too surprised if you're suddenly craving pasta). With its captivating storyline and Zoe Saldaña and Eugenio Mastrandrea's irresistible chemistry, you've got yourself a binge-worthy masterpiece that'll take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. — Nakeisha Campbell, PureWow’s Associate Editor of Entertainment & News

PureWow Pick for Most Likely to Get an Emmy Nod: Christina Applegate

Dead to Me is back on Netflix for its third and final season. And, unsurprisingly, star Christina Applegate is at her absolute best from the get-go. Her performance is nuanced, heartbreaking and (as always) very very funny. The former Married with Children actress recently received a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And now, based on her work in DTM season three, she's a lock for an Emmy nomination when they're finally announced next summer. — Philip Mutz, PureWow’s VP of News & Entertainment

PureWow Pick for Best Cheesy Holiday Movie: Christmas with You

This one’s for the streamers who don’t mind watching a holiday movie before Thanksgiving (#GuiltyAsCharged). The brand-new flick with Freddie Prinze Jr. just premiered on Netflix last week, and it’s already getting loads of buzz for its Hallmark-worthy story line. The plot follows a pop star (Aimee Garcia) who’s concerned about getting burned out. So, she agrees to travel to a small town for the holidays to fulfill a young boy’s wish. While there, she finds love in an unexpected place. *Cue Freddie Prinze Jr.* — Greta Heggeness, PureWow’s Senior Editor of News & Entertainment

PureWow Pick for Best Award Show Performance: P!nk

Never underestimate the power of P!nk when it comes to live performances. The 43-year-old star who has become known for casually doing trapeze art during award shows (and belting just as loud as she flips upside down) brought another show-stopping performance at this year's AMAs. To open up the ceremony, the “So What” singer glided onto the stage in roller skates, in such a bubbly, vibrant number that it made you miss the roller rink days of middle school past. Not to mention, the singer returned later in the evening for a tribute to Olivia Newton-John, where she nailed a cover of “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” We're devoted to you, P!nk. — Joel Calfee, Assistant Editor of News & Entertainment

PureWow Pick for Best Laugh Out Loud Comedy: Sex Lives of College Girls

Class is back in session at Essex College! The first two episodes from the second season of The Sex Lives of College Girls have just debuted on HBO Max and you know we had to binge-watch them immediately. In the new season, our favorite girls—Kimberly (Pauline Chalame), Bela (Amrit Kaur), Leighton (Reneé Rapp) and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott)—are ready for a new semester at the university. That means frat parties, not-so-casual hookups and a Magic Mike strip show. Not only are we here for the great on-screen chemistry and endless laughs, but this second season is gearing up to be better than the first—and it’s an absolute must-watch over Thanksgiving break. — Karelle McKay, Assistant Editor of News & Entertainment
