If there's one awards show I look forward to every year, it's the Grammys—and this year's ceremony surely didn't disappoint. Whether I was eyeing the best looks on the red carpet or jumping off the couch because Beyoncé won Album of the Year, the 67th annual show was one for the books. However, there was one surprising look that caught my attention (and I predict it's going to be a popular hair trend this year—even if it's a controversial one.) Let me introduce you to the jellyfish haircut.
The Jellyfish Haircut Was the Real Winner at the Grammys This Year
Miley, Billie and Gaga all donned this controversial look

Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga were all seen rocking this trendy cut at the Grammys. They each made it uniquely different, with Cyrus adding chunky highlights to her soft brown shade, Gaga sporting some serious micro fringe (another controversial hair trend) and Eilish keeping it simple with jet black locks tied up.
But one thing that was common between the trio: the length difference that makes the jellyfish cut so iconic (or at least, the talk of the town).

Inspired by the traditional Japanese hime cut, the jellyfish haircut combines a blunt bob and a mullet. As Juli Akaneya, a professional hairstylist, previously explained to me, "[With a] jellyfish haircut, the hair on top is cut short and blunt (resembling a bob) and the hair underneath is left long and textured. This cut [resembles] a jellyfish, hence its name!"
She continues, "It's similar to a mullet or shag in the sense that the hair on top is much shorter (for the body of the jellyfish) than the hair underneath, but the sections are [even] more drastic and disconnected (for the tentacles)."

I reported on this haircut in 2023 and I'm actually shocked to see it making a comeback. It's a bold cut, and yet, the trio managed to make it look doable. If I had to pick a favorite, Cyrus adding fuller bangs to the mix makes it less...scary, which is all thanks to her stylist Bob Recine.
Now, Akaneya did assure me it can work on all hair types and face shapes, but I'm just going to leave this one with these cool Grammy award-winning artists.
