For our mates across the pond, there’s an overarching desire for ease that’s influencing the range of haircuts being requested in salons these days. Whether it’s a shaggy cut that’s meant to be worn with your natural texture or a French touch on the classic bob, these low-maintenance looks are plenty chic without being fussy. Ahead, peep the seven haircuts that one celebrity hairstylist deems the most popular in London right now.

7 Haircuts Everyone in Los Angeles Wants Right Now

1. Layered Cuts

Whether it’s the shag, octopus or shullet cut, long layered styles are making waves in London. “The super layered trend had a resurgence with people looking to ‘70s and ‘90s cuts for inspiration,” says Brownsell. “You can create your own version of the style by combining shorter fringe and layers or playing with different lengths,” she adds.

2. Box Bob

Bobs will forever be a global favorite, but Londoners are digging a new version of the classic look. “Bobs are getting shorter and squarer here lately. The box bob is a great way to retain the hair's movement and make the most of your natural texture,” explains Brownsell. The style is all about blunt, choppy ends that frame the face and give the illusion of a fuller ‘do.

3. Curly Bob

For those with curly hair, a bob with thoughtfully placed layers will take the weight out of the cut and give your hair more movement so you can let your natural texture shine.

4. French Bob

On the streets of London, many are looking to their sister city for inspiration. “The French bob has been updated with layers and a soft cropped fringe. When styled, it can look super chic, but when left to air dry, it gives off the cool London girl feeling,” says Brownsell. She also notes that adding a hair elixir to your routine can reduce frizz and improve shine without weighing down your strands.

5. Modern Mullets

Another iteration of the shag is the modern mullet, which features even shorter layers and longer pieces through the sides and back. The difference between today’s mullet and those of the ‘80s? The layers, though extreme, blend together, so it doesn’t look like two different haircuts in one.

6. Extra-Long Layers

For anyone who has become attached their long hair, there’s always the option to keep the length, but add a few layers throughout to refresh the overall shape just so.

7. Elf Crop

We’re predicting this will be the cut of 2023 in London. “The elf crop is a great style for medium to fine hair types, as it consists of disconnected strands and long textured edges around the face that give it a relaxed feel and plenty of shape,” shares Brownsell. “Plus, the softer pieces frame the face and have a flattering contouring effect.”
