If I were to pick the most momentous day of September astrologically, it would be Thursday, Sept. 10th. The days leading up to it see the moon move through cozy Cancer Sunday into Monday, vibrant Leo until mid-Wednesday, before settling into Virgo. We’re at the tail end of the lunar month, trying to fight off sleepiness as we approach the new moon.
It’s exactly on the threshold of this new moon that several important astrological shifts take place—all on the same day, Sept. 10th.
First, Venus enters Scorpio. The journey from Libra to Scorpio is a dicey one for Venus. In Libra, she is flying high in a harmonious sign that she herself rules. As she shifts to Scorpio, she enters the domain of Mars, her planetary opposite. In Scorpio, she becomes jealous and possessive, even a bit controlling. Mars, her ruler in Scorpio, is also not in great shape. This combination can lead us down a path to pettiness and emotional reactivity. (Oof.) Remember that Venus is in the pre-shadow of her upcoming retrograde, and impulsive action now might have to eat its words next month.
Next, Mercury enters Libra. Libra is the sign of diplomacy for Mercury, wherein it seeks to smooth things over and find the win-win. But in Libra, Mercury looks to Venus, who’s sneaking through Scorpio, leading to a possible duplicitousness in our communications. Mercury wants everything calm on the surface while Venus is trying to hide her disquietude with the current state of relationships. Again, slip-ups here will likely result in revisiting things when Venus goes retrograde next month.
