There are moments when everything seems to change all at once. This is one of those weeks. A new moon just happened, then all of the personal planets—Mercury, Venus and Mars—change signs in two days, and the Sun moves into Gemini a day after that. It’s a major vibe shift that splits the month in half. It’s a big shift not because big things change, but because everything changes all at once.
On Sunday the 17th, Mercury leaves taciturn Taurus for oh-so-chatty Gemini, speeding up our thoughts and communication. Almost immediately, it runs smack into Uranus, the unpredictable mover and shaker, so surprising communications or insights are on the menu for Sunday evening. Pay special attention to this one as it’s the first instance of Mercury with Uranus in Gemini, portending themes of Uranus’s journey there for the next six years.
Monday sees Mars leave Aries for Taurus and Venus leave Gemini for Cancer. Each move is significant. Mars leaves behind Saturn in Aries, releasing pressure on some of the tensest astrology of the year. In Taurus, Mars can crash out from the frenzy of Aries, resting in the slower pace of the bull’s sign. Venus also leaves her social butterfly sign of Gemini for the emotional closeness of Cancer, pulling her tribe in tighter and looking for true intimacy over casual connections.
These two planets leave the faster-paced fire and air signs for the slower earth and water, slowing things down and feeling them out rather than rushing through. Calm descends over the parts of our charts they govern.
