Sunday evening holds the new moon in Gemini. A new moon is a cosmic reset, the moment a worn-out story of one lunar month renews itself in the purifying fires of the sun, realigning our daily efforts with the steadier solar purpose.
The defining story of this new moon and therefore the month that follows, is a slowing Mercury. Mercury is the planet that tends to the frenetic bizarre of Gemini—the marketplace of goods, ideas, trends and communication. Mercury is in tender Cancer, moving more slowly each day as it prepares to station and move retrograde at the end of the month.
What this means is that what we think we are beginning at this new moon is unlikely to be exactly how we imagine. The forward momentum is slowing as we reconsider where to put our efforts.
Mercury retrogrades are not ideal times to start new things, but they are wonderful for getting back to abandoned projects or delayed conversations. If I was going to try and manifest some project during the new moon, it would be a return to something unfinished that still tugs on my heart. Whether it’s a house project that would help you feel more peaceful in your home or an old hurt that is ripe for a reconciliation, each are worthy pursuits for the lunar month ahead.
