A new moon, a loud Venus and a wounded healer

Sunday evening holds the new moon in Gemini. A new moon is a cosmic reset, the moment a worn-out story of one lunar month renews itself in the purifying fires of the sun, realigning our daily efforts with the steadier solar purpose.

The defining story of this new moon and therefore the month that follows, is a slowing Mercury. Mercury is the planet that tends to the frenetic bizarre of Gemini—the marketplace of goods, ideas, trends and communication. Mercury is in tender Cancer, moving more slowly each day as it prepares to station and move retrograde at the end of the month.

What this means is that what we think we are beginning at this new moon is unlikely to be exactly how we imagine. The forward momentum is slowing as we reconsider where to put our efforts.

Mercury retrogrades are not ideal times to start new things, but they are wonderful for getting back to abandoned projects or delayed conversations. If I was going to try and manifest some project during the new moon, it would be a return to something unfinished that still tugs on my heart. Whether it’s a house project that would help you feel more peaceful in your home or an old hurt that is ripe for a reconciliation, each are worthy pursuits for the lunar month ahead.

Other news this week is a string of connections between Venus in Leo and the outer planets. On Monday she flirts with Uranus, on Tuesday she dances with Neptune and Wednesday she challenges Pluto. Monday offers energy, Tuesday provides inspired flow and Wednesday parts way for divine interruption. Wednesday has the most potential difficulty as Pluto and Venus have a power showdown and Pluto tends towards extremes.

A final major shift of the week is the movement of Chiron into Taurus. Chiron is the cultural wound and the medicine. It has spent the last eight years in Aries, both wounding and healing our relationship to the spontaneous authentic self.

For several months, from June 19 to September 17, we get a peek into what Chiron in Taurus will bring. In Taurus, Chiron is likely to bring up any areas ripe for healing in our relationships with nature, land, food and sustenance of all kinds. Chiron transits tend to begin with the ouch and end with the soothing, so keep your chin up.
