These Two Royals Made a Surprise Appearance in the Super Bowl Stands

There were all kinds of celebrity guests at Super Bowl LVI, from Bennifer to Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. But two of the most surprising attendees ended up being royal family members Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie.

The pair have remained close throughout the years, having once been neighbors back when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lived across the pond. And we've seen Princess Eugenie show her love for Harry and Meghan on social media, like last June, when the pair welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, into the world and the princess posted a message to her Instagram Story, saying, “Congratulations dear cousins.. we couldn't be happier for you all.”

Now, it seems the cousins were getting in some bonding time as they watched the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals. A photo of the pair was shared by the NFL UK Twitter account, where they said, “Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie in the house at #SBLVI.”

In the photo, we see Prince Harry sporting a black jacket over a white tee, while Princess Eugenie is wearing a black top as well, which she paired with jeans and a blue baseball cap.

Since the game was held in Inglewood, California, it makes sense the duke made an appearance, given that he lives just up the coast in Montecito. Meanwhile, his cousin must have flown in to attend the game.

Over the years, it's been clear that Prince Harry is quite the sports fan. While he formerly served as the royal patron of the Rugby Football Union, many of his service efforts have been tied to sports as well. Take, for the instance, the Invictus Games, an international sports competition he founded that is meant to bring together wounded or sick servicemen and women with the purpose of supporting rehabilitation and recovery.

Who knew that the big game would include a rare royal sighting?
