Meghan Markle Is Releasing a Children’s Book Based on Prince Harry & Archie’s Relationship

Meghan Markle is dipping her toes into the publishing industry. The Duchess of Sussex just announced that her first children's book, The Bench, is hitting shelves on June 8th.

According to a press release, the 39-year-old’s new project is based on a poem she wrote to Prince Harry for Father’s Day. Illustrated by bestselling artist Christian Robinson, the book will be published in print by Penguin Random House and also be made into an audiobook, which will be narrated by Markle herself. Oh, and we even got a first glimpse of the illustrated cover art.

The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born,” Markle said in the press release. “That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens. My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

The exciting news comes just two days before Archie's second birthday. The couple is also expecting their second child, a baby girl, who is due later this summer.

Who knows, maybe we’ll get another children’s about fathers and daughters this time next year.
