Jennifer Lopez is teaming up with Netflix for an all-new project that’s bound to land a spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched movies. (Mark our words.)
The 51-year-old singer is set to star in and produce an upcoming action movie, The Mother, according to Deadline. Although many of the details are being kept under wraps, we do know that Niki Caro (Mulan) is in talks to direct the film.
Lopez will play the main character, who just so happens to be a deadly assassin. Although she’s on the run from dangerous men, she’s forced to come out of hiding in an attempt to protect her estranged daughter. (Think of The Mother as a cross between Peppermint and Taken.)
Although Misha Green (Lovecraft Country) penned the original screenplay, it was later revised by Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton). In addition to her starring role, Lopez will also serve as an executive producer alongside Green, Elaine Goldsmith Thomas (The Boy Next Door), Benny Medina (Hustlers), Roy Lee (The Lego Movie) and Miri Yoon (Behaving Badly).
