Gabrielle Union Channeled Her Inner ‘Queen’s Gambit’ on Instagram

We’d be lying if we said we haven’t considered taking up chess after watching Netflix’s popular TV show, The Queen’s Gambit. Based on these brand-new photos, it appears we aren’t the only ones who enjoyed watching it.

Yesterday, Gabrielle Union posted a slideshow on her personal Instagram account, featuring shots from a recent backyard photoshoot. The pics show the Bring It On alum, 48, channeling her inner Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) as she poses on a gigantic chess board.

The caption says it all: “Binges #QueensGambit & cut to this.” She even included the hashtag: “#FeltCuteWillNeverDeleteLater.”

We’re not entirely sure where the photoshoot took place—but if we had to guess, we’d say the location is Union’s massive backyard (which also features a stunning infinity pool).

The Queen’s Gambit originally premiered last month on Netflix, and it’s been a top contender on the streaming service’s list of most-watched TV shows ever since. (It was ranked number one but has since been dethroned by The Crown.)

The series tells the story of Beth Harmon, whose dream is to become the greatest chess player in the world. It begins with her childhood living in an orphanage, where she meets a wise janitor, Mr. Shaibel (Bill Camp), who discovers her affinity for chess.

Still, one question remains: Did Union always own a life-size chess board? Or was it an impulse buy after watching The Queen’s Gambit? (No judgement, just pure curiosity.)
