Tomatoes: When they’re good, they’re goooood. When they’re bland, they’re…blech.
But there are easy (like, really crazy easy) ways to keep them fresh and juicy. The key is how they’re stored.
Rule 1: Always keep tomatoes at room temperature. (Refrigerators cause them to lose flavor.)
Rule 2: Wherever you decide to keep them (say, on the counter top), always store them with their stems facing down. This prevents air from entering and moisture from leaving the fruit (where it was once attached to the vine).
Follow those two simple truths, and you’ll never worry about ruining your ratatouille again.
