Dasha Burobina for PureWow
Now that spring has finally #blessed us with its presence, it's time to retire those fleece-lined leggings and cashmere sweaters in in favor of comfortable sandals, slip dresses and the like. If your warm-weather wardrobe is feeling *so* last year, we've got some good news: Amazon spring fashion has also sprung, with tons of fresh designs at reasonable prices.
While the endless options can admittedly be a tad overwhelming, we've already combed through the mega-retailer's copious virtual racks to find the best standouts of the season. To help make our selections, we looked for garments that would be stylish, comfortable in warmer weather and wouldn't fall apart after one wash. Versatility as far as sizing goes was also strongly considered. In addition, we tapped two professional stylists to fill us in on all the trending styles for 2023 and offer tips on what to look for when shopping them.
Meet the Experts
- MT Meikle is a model and stylist with a background in fashion merchandising and the founder of Toronto-based fashion consultancy La Closette.
- Irene Kim is a former securities lawyer and a co-owner of La Closette.
What Is the Latest Spring Fashion?
- Jean maxi skirts: “Maxi skirts, [especially] in denim, are feeling so fresh right now,” the La Closette experts say. Midis and minis are still making the rounds à la Y2K, but no longer do they reign.
- Elevated denim: Denim never goes out of style, but it's had an uncertain few years, with style swings from mom jeans and flared bottoms to skinnies and back again. In spring 2023, the legs on our jeans are still wide—maybe even wider than before—but less distressed. Plus, those waists are getting lower. “Low-rise trousers and jeans are feeling new again because unlike their Y2K [counterparts], they’re slouchier and chill,” Meikle and Kim say.
- Bold hues: While spring is typically a time for soft pastels, bold hues are completely acceptable for 2023—think captivating cobalt blue, shades of green ranging from trendy chartreuse to pale mint, as well as luscious ruby reds.
- Sheer textiles: “We’re loving sheer, undergarment-inspired details on dresses and skirts,” say Kim and Meikle, who add, “Yes, we’re on board with sheer skirts with full briefs peeking through!” If you're not ready to rock a head-to-toe see-through look just yet, the stylists recommend experimenting with thinner fabrics in flowy tops and dresses.
- Retro footwear: Sneakers still rule the fashion world, but this spring, we’ve also seen the reemergence of the low-profile ballet flat and Mary Janes.
- Generational style: Looks from the '90s and Y2K eras are changing and becoming more refined, but they aren’t going anywhere. “Early-to-mid ‘90s minimalism will be with us for a while,” the La Closette experts say.
The Top 5 Amazon Spring Fashion Pieces at a Glance
- Why We Love It: longer cut, padded shoulders
- Size Range: S to L
This blazer is just the right kind of big. The padded shoulders and slightly structured arms won’t overwhelm your frame and the loose fit and elongated hem gives it the coveted “borrowed from dad/my boyfriend” look. “The easiest spring trend to add [into your wardrobe] is the...blazer, which pairs well with a tee, trouser, dress, skirts or shorts,” Kim and Meikle say. “The oversized boxy or drop-shoulder [cut] can elevate a look from simply classic to more interesting and modern.” Be sure to size up for extra oversized chicness.
Best Spring Jeans
SweatyRocks
- Why We Love Them: tons of functional pockets, trendy silhouette
- Size range: XXS to XXL
Cargo pants have been on the rise for a few years now, and this year, they’ve collided with denim. This pair keeps things minimal when it comes to the details—there are no over-the-top zippers, buttons or drawstrings—but features patch pockets at the waist and two side-flap pockets for style and function. The wide legs, meanwhile, will look perfect when paired with a cropped cardigan and chunky sneakers or jazzed up with some sandals, a tank and a blazer (might we suggest the option above?).
Best Spring Shoes
Sam Edelman
- Why We Love Them: adjustable strap, real leather
- Size range: 5 to 12
“Mary Janes are the shoe of the season,” our style experts at La Closette say. “Swap them out with your chunky loafers, which we’ve seen for a few seasons now.” (Done and done.) We love these simple ones from Sam Edelman that are made of 100 percent soft leather inside and out, have shiny gold hardware and a square toe that's reminiscent of spring's other trending shoe (the ballet flat).
Best Spring Maxi Skirt
Viatabuna
- Why We Love It: cargo pockets, super soft denim
- Size range: XXS to XXL
Here, another look that's making a comeback, and we could not be more into it. Vogue, Fashionista and Who What Wear have all cited the denim maxi as a must-have for this spring, and we’re opting for this versatile medium-wash option. With its ultra-flattering high-waist, it will make for a super comfy choice whether you’re heading to dinner or strolling around the park, since reviewers say its *so* soft and stretchy. We also love its raw, unfinished hem.
Best Spring Midi Dress
English Factory
- Why We Love It: durable fabric, breezy style
- Size range: XS to XL
The midi dress of your dreams is right here. This effortless ruffled pick is made of 100 percent polyester, making it super durable and less likely to lose that gorgeous green (or blue or pink) hue, since polyester's not prone to fade. Perhaps above all, it's also machine washable, making it a cinch to clean. It's partially lined, so you won't have to worry about it being see-through, either, though you'll want to note that polyester isn't the most breathable of fabrics, so it may be best to save this one for cooler spring days.
Best Spring Mini Skirt
Wdirara
- Why We Love It: tons of colors, breathable
- Size Range: XXS to 5X
With its elaborate checked pattern and machine-friendly cotton construction, this sweet miniskirt is a whole vibe (Clueless, anyone?). It has a structured waist, so you may want to size up for that added bit of give on days you're feeling particularly bloated (it happens), but it's made to be breathable, washable and strong.
- Why We Love Them: cushioned footbed, non-slip sole
- Size range: 5 to 12
The pointy toe of these white ankle booties is offset by the chunkier 4-inch high square heel, and with the rubber non-slip sole, you can wear them confidently for your daily errands or a dressed-up date night. We also think they'll pair perfectly with the rest of the ‘70s-revival inspired pieces in your wardrobe—think bell bottoms, frayed jeans and maxi dresses galore.
Best Spring Shacket
O A T New York
- Why We Love It: high-quality, transitions from season to season
- Size range: XS to XL
Before we make it to those balmy summer temps, we need to get us through those cooler evenings. In short? We need good transitional pieces, like this denim shacket. A versatile wash-and-wear item made of 100 percent cotton, it features big (and utilitarian!) patchwork chest pockets. According to buyers who love, it's also well-made, making it look far pricier than its less than $40 price tag. It will wear well over your dresses, your rompers and your best skirt-and-top combos, but sizes run small per the company, so size up if you’re looking to wear it over lots of layers.
Best Spring Maxi Dress
Anrabess
- Why We Love It: supportive top, elevated style
- Size Range: S to XL
This year, we’re elevating our sundress style with this stunning maxi. The one-shoulder style and waist cutout give it quite the sartorial boost, and its lightweight rayon has some stretch but will maintain its shape for that fitted look. Amazon reviewers even say the shirred bodice is supportive enough to wear it without a bra—score!
Best Spring Sandals
Tory Burch
- Why We Love Them: real leather, built for comfort
- Size range: 4 to 11
Spring is the best time to let your little piggies breathe in a pair of chic Tory Burch sandals. With their smooth calfskin footbed and sturdy rubber sole, these will make long walks through Central Park or a botanical garden a breeze, and they're topped with the one and only signature logo from the brand. As for the fit, shoppers recommend going half a size up, but say they’re super comfy once you've got the right pair for your foot.
- Why We Love It: celeb-approved, cloud-like feel
- Size range: XXS to 2X
This cropped tank top is beloved by everyone from Bella Hadid to former Victoria's Secret model Elsa Hosk, and it's not for the label. According to this top's designer, Ardith Singh, who spoke to The Zoe Report, the stretchy ribbed spandex and tercel material give it an elevated, cloud-like feel, while its high neckline and curved armholes practically conform to the shape of your body. All you need is a pair of light-wash blue jeans, and you'll have that laidback Cali-cool girl aura nailed.
Best Spring Jacket
SaphiRose
- Why We Love It: water-resistant, windproof, designer look
- Size range: S to XXL
It's a well-known fact that spring tends to bring showers, so a water-resistant, windproof jacket to help keep you nice and dry is in good order come this time of year. This one looks far pricier than it is thanks to that checked lining (Burberry, anyone?), and the adjustable drawstring at the waist makes it easy to cinch it shut. The two flap pockets at the sides will also keep your little fingers warm when chilly rains are pouring down.
- Why We Love Them: celeb-loved brand, sustainable elements
- Size range: 4 to 10
Channel your inner Emily In Paris with this Lily Collins-approved collaboration from French footwear faves Veja and Italy's Mansur Gavriel. Each pair of these sleek, pebbled cowhide shoes were "inspired by an element of natural beauty" according to the brand. They have a sole that's made from rice waste and recycled rubber, giving them a sustainable element, and the minimalist design and off-white shade will flow seamlessly with a flowy maxi (see Collins' Insta for proof).
- Why We Love It: soft to the touch, machine-washable
- Size range: one size fits all
It doesn't get much more Y2K-inspired than this daisy-covered cardi that looks like it was made for Corey from Empire Records. The material is softer than it looks, according to its buyers, and it's slightly cropped (because, 2000s). It does run smaller, however, and considering it's one size fits all, there's not a lot of wiggle room.
- Why We Love Them: elastic waist, lightweight linen
- Size range: S to XXL
These ultra wide-legged pants will be just the thing for lounging around on a lazy day thanks to the elastic waist and airy legs, yet don't sacrifice an ounce of style. The cotton and linen blend is basically built for summer, too, as these fabrics are typically absorbent, strong and thermoregulating. Keep in mind that the company recommends that you hand-wash these trousers and keep them out of the dryer to preserve them for as long as possible. (Psst: Did we mention how cute these would look with the Bandier tank above?)
Best Spring Necklace
Mevecco
- Why We Love It: personalization options, hypoallergenic
- Size: adjustable 17.5- to 19.5-inch chain
If you want an affordable take on this season’s celestial styles, this hypoallergenic, silver- or 40 percent 18K gold-encapsulated constellation coin necklace is it. Each Zodiac sign is delicately engraved into the charm, which is paired with a minimalist, adjustable chain. These look beautiful on their own or layered with different necklaces, and despite the low price, reviewers say it won’t change color or turn your skin green.
- Why We Love Them: padded footbed, easy to clean, bubblegum scent
- Size range: 5 to 10
Spring's arrival means pool season is just a hop, skip and a jump away, and these thick, retro jelly sandals will be the investment you need to enjoy it to the fullest. The brand-specific PVC material promises to be ultra-flexible (read: comfortable) waterproof (PVC is actually used in a lot of rain gear) and a breeze to clean, while the padded footbed is built for cush. They'll also smell (yes, smell) nice—like all Melissa shoes, they're infused with the scent of—wait for it—bubblegum!
Best Spring Shorts
Dokotoo
- Why We Love Them: smocked waist, breathable
- Size range: S to XL
These lightweight, high-waisted shorts come with adorable ruffle detailing and are cut to be ultra-flattering to your legs (not to mention cool and comfortable). The viscose will be absorbent (begone, swass!) and hold its shape well, and you can choose from12 different subtle colors.
Best Spring Heels
The Drop
- Why We Love Them: comfortable heel height, padded footbed
- Size range: 5 to 13
When it feels like it’s past time to step into some glamor (um, and maybe get a pedicure while we’re at it), The Drop’s fun and feminine lace-up strappy sandals will be waiting with their skinny 3-inch heel and summery toe thong strap. They'll also be the perfect companion to your best wedding guest attire—the footbed is padded for dancing all night long, after all.
Best Spring Earrings
Turquoise Network
- Why We Love Them: statement piece, lightweight
- Size: one size fits all
Make a bold statement with these runway-replicating, shoulder-skimming resin earrings that have a long and lean shape with bold pops of coral and turquoise (to name a few). The solid sterling silver enclosure will be lightweight, so you won’t feel them even after a night out, and the back ear wire is extra long, so they're less likely to slip out.
Best Spring Top
SweatyRocks
- Why We Love It: drawstring closure, lightweight
- Size range: XS to L
The sheer trend has been creeping into the mainstream for some time now. While there's always some skepticism about how well these see-through styles will *actually* translate from the runway to the sidewalk, you can dip a toe into the trend with a more subtle style, like this gauzy top. With its open, airy feel and polyester construction that's not prone to stretching or shrinking, it will be great for throwing on over beachwear, wearing over a bra as a going-out top or adding some warmth to your strapless dress.
Best Spring Flats
Amazon Essentials
- Why We Love Them: flexible outsole, "heel pillow" technology, try before you buy-eligible
- Size range: 5 to 15
The return of the ballet flat has come fast and furious, thanks in large part to trend forecaster Bella Hadid and her Balletcore looks. The Amazon Essentials line boasts a comfy elasticized topline that will be less rigid on your feet and “heel pillow” technology that buyers say is more than legit. "LITERALLY the most comfortable flats I have ever owned," one wrote. "I absolutely was not expecting the comfort or quality that they have." They do tend to run a half-size small per customers, though, so size up for a better fit (note that they’re synthetic, so you won’t get much stretch over time).
- Why We Love It: sweat-wicking band, removable chin strap
- Size range: M to L
Keep the sun out of your face and help protect it from harmful UV-Rays with this oversized sun hat in high-quality straw. Handy features include a sweat-wicking band and a removable chin strap to prevent it from blowing away in the wind. It will also be easy to pack away for storage once the sunny season ends.
- Why We Love It: nickel-free, adjustable
- Size range: 5 to 10
Decorate your fingers with this lovely nickel-free ring that boasts a subtle-yet-gorgeous rose design (a fitting motif for the season, no?). It can be conveniently adjusted by up to two sizes, and the sterling-silver material won't turn your fingers green, according to happy buyers. What’s not to like?
Best Spring Tennis Dress
Fengbay
- Why We Love It: pockets, built-in shorts
- Size range: S to L
You can enjoy this cute tennis dress whether or not you plan on making Serena Williams proud. Made with spandex, you'll have good range of motion, and it's also sweat-wicking for when things start to get heated. The built-in shorts allow for ease of movement, and it even comes with an impressive four pockets with which to hold your belongings. Game, set, match!
Best Spring Sunglasses
Coach
- Why We Love It: UV protection, retro feel, designer quality
With all that lovely spring sunshine headed our way, you’re going to want something chic—and effective—to protect your precious peepers. These sunnies from Coach should do the trick with their stylish retro frame and tinted lenses. They're also polarized for anti-glare that will help you see while driving.
- Why We Love It: good for layering, high-low hem
- Size range: XS to 3X
This lightweight number is a great layering or standalone piece. The relaxed neckline makes it easy to throw on over just about everything, and there's an obscene amount of colors to choose from—just make sure to dry clean it, since you'll ruin its super soft fabric in the wash.
- Why We Love It: included zip pouch, tough fabric, tons of colors
Now that you’re doing away with your heavier coats (aka the one with all the pockets), you’ll need something to carry your sunglasses, water bottle and next beach read in. This puffy tote from Ovida is a dupe for the quilted COS bag that TikTok is responsible for repeatedly selling out (you can nab a similar mini while it's still in stock), only it comes in way more color choices. Its tough polyester shell and lining are padded with down cotton, and happy buyers say it’s lightweight enough to be worn on one shoulder or as a crossbody.
Best Spring Watch
Anne Klein
- Why We Love It: adjustable link, water resistant up to 100 feet
According to Who What Wear, 2023 is the year of the watch, and the two-tone bracelet style will make for a particularly elegant addition to your jewelry collection. This analog find features an adjustable, metal-link bracelet, a mineral crystal lens and is water-resistant up to 100 feet. It also has an extender if your wrist is on the larger side.
- Why We Love It: high-low hem, good transitional piece
- Size Range: S to XL
Stripes never go out of style, and this slouchy sweater will be the bridge for your spring wardrobe. The cute rolled neck gives it that cozy coastal grandma feel, while the length is just short enough for a casual front tuck, but long enough to cover your backside. When it warms up enough for shorts, this will look great with denim cutoffs. It's also made of a durable acrylic that should last through more than a season.
