The Bollywood Remake of This Hit Thriller Is Officially the #3 Movie on Netflix

It’s been five years since Emily Blunt’s psychological thriller, The Girl on the Train, hit theaters and became one of the most popular movies of the year (we can’t believe it either). However, now it looks like the Bollywood remake is getting as much attention because just days after its release, the film is already the number three movie on Netflix’s top ten list.

Starring Parineeti Chopra (cousin to Priyanka Chopra Jonas), the film is a retelling of Paula Hawkins’s bestselling book by the same name. The flick was officially released on Friday, February 26th and it’s even more intense than the original.

In short, the premise follows a divorcee who fixates on the lives of a perfect couple from the window of a train during her daily commutes. Unfortunately, it isn’t long before she becomes entangled in a murder mystery that has her questioning herself and her entire life.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads: “The Girl on the Train is the story of Meera, who fixates on the perfect lives of a couple from afar, during her daily commutes on the train. One day, she witnesses something out of the ordinary, that shocks her. The film follows her journey as she tries to unravel the truth.”

In addition to Chopra, The Girl on the Train also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwary.

While we’ll always love the original, this remake definitely gives Emily Blunt’s version a run for its money.
