Stop the Royal Presses: Princess Beatrice Is Engaged (and Here's a Close-Up of the Ring)

Holy Mozzi!

Princess Beatrice, 31, is engaged, and the rock is massive. (There, we said it.)

As announced on social media today (with pictures taken by her sister Princess Eugenie—Kate, looks like you've got some royal photographer competition!), Princess Beatrice of York, ninth in line to the throne and fifth eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth, is engaged to boyfriend and real estate tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 34.

The couple got engaged during a romantic vacation to Italy this month, and the wedding will take place in 2020.

The engagement ring looks to be a circular diamond with two baguettes on either side and set in a platinum band. (To see the close-up of the ring, swipe through the Instagram slideshow above by clicking on the little white arrow on the right-hand side.)

BeaBea's (we love that nickname) younger sister Eugenie offered her congratulations in an Instagram caption: "Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. [camera emoji] by me!!"

She also shared a quote from her newly engaged sis and "Edo": "'We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.'"

The royal family's official IG account also congratulated the happy couple and revealed that they got engaged weeks ago (secrets, secrets are no fun, you guys!).

"The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi," the caption read. "Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020. This photograph was taken by Princess Eugenie in Italy."

Technically, Edo has some royal-ish ties himself. Mapelli Mozzi’s father (his mom Nikki Shale’s first husband) is Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and he comes from a long line of Italian aristocrats. The younger Mapelli Mozzi is also technically a count, but the title isn’t recognized in the British peerage system.

Edo founded Banda Property, a property development and design/architecture firm in London that specializes in high-net-worth projects. So yeah, he’s basically the U.K. version of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Oh, did we mention he’s a millionaire?

The two have been family friends for a long time, but officially started dating a little over a year ago before Eugenie's wedding in October. Edo also has a 2-year-old son with former fiancée Dara Huang.

And to think, we just expected a Kate and William appearance and more updates from Meghan and Harry's royal tour of Africa today in the royal headlines. (BRB, we need coffee.)
