Jennifer Aniston Drops Surprise Photo of Her Next Major Project (& It Features a Very Familiar Face)

Jennifer Aniston had an exciting 2021, with the premiere of a long-awaited Friends reunion, the return of her hit series The Morning Show and the launch of her haircare brand called LolaVie. And with 2022 underway, it doesn't look like the actress is slowing down any time soon.

The 52-year-old actress is currently working on a sequel to her hit comedy film, Murder Mystery, and she teased the project by posting a photo with her co-star, Adam Sandler.

When the first Murder Mystery premiered in 2019, it was a smash success for Netflix, racking up views in 30.9 million households, making it the biggest opening weekend for a Netflix movie at the time.

Now, the streaming service is looking to repeat that magic, and Aniston revealed that Murder Mystery 2 is in production, with a slideshow on Instagram that she captioned, “Back to work with my buddy. #MurderMystery2.”

In the first slide, Aniston is seen posing next to Sandler, and the two look like characters straight out of The White Lotus, which makes sense given that The Hollywood Reporter revealed the sequel is currently being filmed in Hawaii.

Following this snap, Aniston shared a video of the cast and crew getting some dancing in during a break on set, which included finger-wagging from Sandler.

Fellow celebs showed their excitement for the sequel, like Jennifer Garner, who said, “Best news ever! X.” Molly Shannon commented, “Best duo ever,” while Jodie Turner-Smith (who who will also star in the sequel) added, “My absolute faves.”

Although few details have been revealed so far, Murder Mystery 2 will be directed by Jeremy Garelick (who's written hit movies like The Hangover and The Break-Up). James Vanderbilt, who wrote the screenplay for the first film, has returned to pen the sequel, while stars Adeel Akhtar and John Kani are reprising their roles alongside Aniston and Sandler.

Jen sure knows how to get us hyped up.
