How Much Is Meghan Markle Worth? We've Got All the Deets
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just announced that they are stepping back from their roles as senior members of the royal family and are striving to "become finally independent."
That means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer receive money from the royal family's funding mechanism that supports their work and official residences.
So, this had us thinking—how much is Meghan Markle worth? Apparently around $5 million BPH (before Prince Harry). Read on for a complete breakdown of the duchess’s net worth.
1. Her acting
Long before she was a royal, Markle was a successful actress.
Her most high-profile role to date is playing Rachel Zane on the tv show Suits (she remains close with the cast to this day), but she also appeared on other popular shows, such as CSI: Miami and 90210.
According to knownetworth.com, she made more than $50,000 per episode on Suits, and her annual salary was "around $450,000, which also included around $80,000 worth of annual sponsorship/endorsements income."
The site also reports that she was paid $187,000 for appearing in the film Remember Me and $171,429 for The Candidate, which were both released in 2010.
2. Her Blog and social media
Before she deleted her social media accounts, Markle used different platforms as another source of income.
She had a lifestyle website called The Tig, which she shut down in April 2017. That same month, she ended her partnership with the Canadian retailer Reitmans, for which she had released two clothing collections.
And of course, there was Instagram. The duchess even dabbled in some sponsored content and endorsements back in her day.
3. Her Family
Different to many other actors and actresses in Hollywood, Markle does not come from a wealthy family.
Her father was a soap opera lighting director who now lives a low-key lifestyle in Mexico, and her mother is a social worker.
However, the 38-year-old “spent time on film sets as a child because her father Thomas was a lighting director on the series Married with Children and General Hospital,” reports UK Express. So, we’re not surprised she ended up in the industry herself.
4. Her Husband
While Markle brought her own wealth into the marriage, Prince Harry brought the bulk.
The duke’s net worth is seemingly somewhere between $25 and $40 million, a tiny piece of what Forbes reports is the royal family’s $88 billion net worth.
Harry's fortune is compromised of income from public funding through the Sovereign Grant (which they will no longer be accepting), funds left in trust to him by his mother, Princess Diana, an inheritance from the Queen Mother, his former salary as a captain in the British Army and money earned through the Duchy of Cornwall.
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see what being financially independent brings this already successful couple.
