First it was Katie Holmes and her bra and cardigan combo, then Kristen Stewart followed suit in Chanel. Now, Alicia Keys is the latest star to leave her shirt at home.
The 38-year-old “Fallin’” singer arrived at the 2019 Billboard Women in Music event at the Hollywood Palladium Theater in Los Angeles, wearing a purple pantsuit with just a lace bra underneath.
Keys selected a purple two-piece Prabal Gurung suit from the spring/summer 2020 collection. Although that specific collection won’t be available to us mere mortals for couple of weeks, we found a purple P.A.R.O.S.H. blazer ($319) that’s a near exact match. It does not, however, include the deep purple bolero that Keys had dangling from her elbows.
The upcoming Grammys host wore a delicate lilac Swiss dot lace balconette bra under her statement-making suit jacket and accessorized the look with 18-karat white gold and diamond Cartier Pluie de Cartier earrings. She also sported the tan pointed-toe Casadei Blade pumps and a silver “G” necklace.
True to her 2016 vow to cut down on her makeup use, Keys wore minimal beauty products on the carpet. Instead of heavy foundation and glam, she kept it simple with light blush, pink lips and some subtle winged eyeliner. She wore her hair pulled back in cornrows with some baby hair action.
But her shirtless ensemble wasn’t the only attention-grabbing moment of the 14th annual event. Keys was also awarded with the American Express Impact Award. Upon accepting the statue, she said, “This is about more than just myself, this is about all of us. I want to be able to be myself, and that’s what I recognize about all these artists. It’s the ability to be an individual, set your own path and blaze forward…we are so incredibly unlimited.”
We have to agree—especially after that suit and bra moment.
