This oversized button-down is the perfect way to dip your toes into the heritage trend while remaining a bit under-the-radar. You can easily layer the polyester-blend with knits, a pleated skirt or a tailored blazer to bring the whole trend to life. Plus, it can defy seasons—just unbutton it and slip it on as a light shacket during the summer and spring months. BTW, reviewers rave about its ability to remain wrinkle-free.

- Promising Review: "This shirt is great! I ironed it after the first wash to get the packaging lines out and haven’t ironed it since. I wash it in cold water and hang it up. It’s ready to wear every time. I have received so many complements."
Glove flats will be everywhere this fall, and this mesh take on the shoe is a clear winner. Available in seven different hues, the style is easy to pair with wide-leg jeans or the longer skirts you'll be seeing this season. "They're wearable. They’re chic," says Berlin. It also doesn't hurt that they'll keep your feet ventilated on those inevitably warm autumn afternoons. Just be sure to size down a half a size, so they don't slip off.

- Size Range: 5 to 12
- Promising Review: "Love the color. The red is more plum and matched my plum sundress I recently purchased. They are true to size and quite comfy to wear dressed up [and] with jeans and a T-shirt. Thinking about buying another pair—love, love, love these."
This dress combines both the polo and knit trends we'll be seeing this fall for the perfect "old money" aesthetic. With a classic collar and buttons that only come a quarter of the way down, this curve-hugging frock, made of a viscose blend, is guaranteed to become an instant fall fave. It comes in multiple different colors, but I recommend springing for the brown and tan hues to best fit the season.

- Promising Review: "I get so many compliments when I wear this dress. It’s a perfect item to wear during work functions—classy and professional. Nice quality knit fabric."
Between its layer-ready fit and preppy houndstooth print, this high-style sweater vest will look great styled over your button-up shirts, pleated tennis dresses and even a simple pair of jeans. Better yet, it's not itchy, according to its legions of Amazon fans, but rather has a softness to it that feels nice and cozy. The only downside? It's hand-wash only. Still, the fact that you can score it for an *extra* 40 percent off right now (just by applying the coupon on the listing) means it's worth the extra effort.

- Size Range: S to XL
- Promising Review: "Finally, a sweater that is not see-through. This one is fairly heavy and looks just like the picture. It runs slightly large, but with a shirt under it I think it’s going to be great."
You'll wanna kick out your riding boots this fall, according to Berlin. With a classic buckle and a knee-high length, this vegan leather take nails the English countryside look. The boots also feature an elastic knit patch on the side that makes them a bit easier to slip on. They have a low heel that's ideal for us taller girls, and they're reportedly comfortable enough to wear throughout the workday. There's also a quilted version of the boots available, if you're interested in adding a little more texture to your ensemble.

- Size Range: 5 to 12
- Promising Review: "These boots fit perfectly! They do not squeeze the side of my foot or toes. Also, they have a cushioned sole at the heel which is nice."
Fitting in with the English heritage vibes of this fall, this long petticoat-esque skirt is the perfect bottom. Shoppers say the shape is universally flattering, cinching in at the waist with an elastic panel and tie-up detail in the back. I suggest pairing it with classic leather boots and a chunky sweater to embrace the manor house mood. It's also a great find for a Hocus Pocus vibe come October, and since it comes in a variety of plaid patterns, you might even want to buy more than one.
Fast Facts
- Size Range: S to XXL
- Promising Review: "The fabric of the skirt is high-quality, though not too heavy, making this full-length skirt comfortable even in warmer weather. The lace up back detail actually covers an elastic panel, which I love! There is a side zipper for easy dressing/undressing, as well as pockets, which I did not expect and was so pleasantly surprised by."
Wide-leg jeans were popular last year, and Teich says they'll just get even wider and more comfortable in 2024. Take this relaxed-fit pair from Levi's, for example. They feature a universally flattering dark wash and a stiff fit that Amazon reviewers find to be especially complementary. They are constructed of 100 percent cotton, so they should hold their shape in the best way.
Fast Facts
- Size Range: 24 to 34
- Promising Review: "The wide leg is definitely wide, but I think the proportions are perfect so that I’m not drowning in them. It still fits fairly snugly in the waist and butt, so is very flattering overall."
Taking a page from the boho dresses seen on Chloe's runway earlier this year, this billowy chiffon dress is ideal for layering this fall. While it does have short sleeves, it's ripe to cover up with a sweater or bomber jacket to achieve a whimsical, feminine fall look, complete with on-trend ruffled accents. The open back also makes it a little edgier if you choose to add a thin top underneath.

- Size Range: S to XL
- Promising Review: “This dress is well-constructed, and made of good quality. I love the open back with strap detail; the drawstring in the back allows you to cinch at waist or tie lower to drop [the] dress right above the small of [the] back. It looks good either way. It's sexy."
This cropped aviator jacket will come in clutch when you want to stay both warm and stylish this season. The cozy faux shearling fabric lines the interior, peeking out on the collar, cuffs and trim. That should help prevent wind from blowing through at the sleeves and neck on chillier fall days, meaning this outfit topper is as functional as it is fashionable.

- Size Range: S to XL
- Promising Review: “This jacket is such a statement piece! My favorite thing about [it] is that the entire coat is lined with super comfy faux lamb fur, making it incredibly cozy and comfortable to wear...I love its slightly oversized fit, which doesn’t overwhelm my frame."
Animal print is going to be big this fall according to Teich, and this laid-back crewneck is a good way to mix it into your causal wear without going overboard. The polka dot pattern mimics a cheetah print, and there's a fun pop of pink on the sleeves and the collar. Pair it with leggings or joggers to feel a little more ferocious on your lounging days, or throw it on over jeans for a lunch out.

- Size Range: S to XXL
- Promising Review: “These tees are comfortable. They wash and dry well, and they look nice. Good to beat around in."
As mentioned earlier, wide-leg pants are here to stay, and to make the look a little more profesh, you can't go wrong with pleated trousers like these. Even more exciting, you won't have to bust out the iron or even the steamer on this pair, since shoppers claim the 100 percent polyester fabric lives up to the company's wrinkle-free claims. The elastic back waist also adds an extra element of comfort. (I'll be reaching for these around that time of the month, thank you very much.) Depending on your height, these may be too long without a good heel, but it's nothing a little hemming can't fix.
Fast Facts
- Size Range: XS to XXL
- Promising Review: “I’m so picky about wide-leg pants. ... These are literally fantastic, especially for this price. The elastic in the back of the waistband is great. ... You’d never know they’re an elastic-waist pant, as they look formal with the styling. .... [They feel] like pajamas, basically. Fabric is great. Pockets are perfect.”
Can you say preppy perfection? With a cozy fit and classic cable-knit pattern, this polyester sweater dress is the ultimate throw-on-and-go style for all your autumn adventures. Picture it over leggings or black tights for a day at the pumpkin patch, or for that true heritage look, styled with a white collar peeking through.

- Size Range: S to XL
- Promising Review: "I love a good sweater dress, but sometimes it’s hard to find one that fits exactly how I want it to. I am so happy I found this one, because it lays perfectly and is very flattering on my body."
Western wear is still very much a trend this year (thank you, Twisters) and these snakeskin booties are a cross between cowboy cool and city-slicker chic. With a 2.5-inch heel and ruching at the top, these will look fab peeking out of wide leg jeans or a boho dress. Best of all, reviewers claim they're comfy enough for all day wear—no wonder they've earned more than 12,000 5-star ratings.

- Promising Review: "I’ve been country concerting for years and have never worn boots. I thought they’d be too hot and uncomfortable to walk in. So I bought these for a three-day country concert and they didn’t disappoint. My feet didn’t sweat, and I’ve worn them for [multiple] outdoor country concerts and my feet didn’t hurt at all."
A fall-drobe triple threat, this chic find offers style, quality and mid-weight warmth. A cross between a coat and a cardigan, the piece's knit viscose-blend material makes it good for both outwear or for use as a cozy office cardigan. From the shawl collar to the roomy patch pockets, it has a polished look that you'll love as the finishing touch on your outfits.

- Promising Review: "Heavy and warm, [it] feels like a fashionable comfort blanket. Not scratchy. Can easily be dressed up or worn as an every day cardigan. Material has held up nicely even after four months.."
Who says you can't find high-end sneaks on Amazon? If you're ready to take your daily trainers up a notch, and earn some street cred while you're at it, turn to these trendy kicks from Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger. Teich loves the retro '90s vibes these leather trainers bring, while reviewers attest to their comfort and say they help update their usual casual office look. They're a unisex shoe, so just be sure to double check the sizing to get your best fit.

- Promising Review: "These are actually pretty comfortable and the Gen Zs I work with don't really treat me like such an insufferable boomer since I upped my sneaker game. I guess I need to lose the ankle socks now."
This fitted, viscose-blend top is a great way to embrace the rich green hues of the season. The scoop neck, subtle ribbing and contrast trim is very demure, if you ask me. Tuck it into some wide-leg pants and pair with some leather loafers and you'll tackle all the season's trends in one go.

- Size Range: S to XXL
- Promising Review: "Love how this looks on, I use it as a casual business work shirt and get tons of compliments."
Tiered maxi skirts were everywhere this summer, and those hippie vibes will definitely be following us into fall. Embrace them in style with this floral chiffon number that takes a cue from the cottagecore aesthetic. The A-line silhouette is airy and flattering, there's lining to prevent any underwear peeking and the elastic waist should be perfectly comfy to boot. Think of it as a cross between the earthy boho and heritage looks that have been serving on the runways.

- Size Range: S to 3X
- Promising Review: "Elastic band makes it very comfortable around the waistline. It’s slightly pleated, which adds texture, lined so not see-through, almost a meshy type fabric. Gorgeous print and moves beautifully!"
A slouchy hobo bag is essential for throwing in everything you need beyond, well, the essentials. This gorgeous vegan leather option comes in multiple fall hues and has a bit of western flare to it. It has an exterior zip pocket, where you can keep your phone for easy access, as well as multiple interior pockets. According to the brand, there's even enough room inside to hold an 11-inch laptop. As a bonus, buyers say the thicker strap makes for super comfy carrying on the shoulder.

- Size Range: one size
- Promising Review: "I love this bag. It is soft and has compartments for easy storage of my items. The stitching is beautiful and shows how well it is made. You have the option of using it as a crossbody or just as a handbag."
Last year was all about the oversized blazer, but this year we're seeing a more tailored look making the rounds. This posh houndstooth plaid option, boasting a timeless notched lapel and two-button closure, is fitted and flared for a more polished feel. I'm picturing it styled with a white button-down paired with some gold accents. How very dark academia coded.

- Size Range: XS to XXL
- Promising Review: "I am thrilled with this jacket! It is well worth the price, as it fits perfectly, is nicely lined and made of great material. The quality is outstanding and it is definitely worth the money."
Loafers are the ultimate preppy footwear of choice, and the tassels on this pair made it a standout option for fall. The shining (faux) patent leather will turn heads, while the chunky sole and contoured padding should ensure a stylish *and* comfy stride. It comes in a few colorways and patterns, like snakeskin and canvas, to shake up your shoe game even further.

- Size Range: 5 to 13
- Promising Review: "They are so comfortable for all-day wear at work and look great with lots of different styles of clothing. It has a roomy toe box, so no rubbing or pinching at all. I wore them for 11 hours the first day and no blisters, either. Great shoe that I'll likely buy more colors of."
If your idea of a fall jacket is more like an oversized sweatshirt, this Amazon pick will be just what the wardrobe doctor ordered. It's made from a thick polyester and cotton blend that reviewers say is both warm and comfortable—two must-haves when it comes to a good half-zip. Plus, the long sleeves have thumbholes for extra warmth and I, for one, love the deep green hue.
Fast Facts
- Size Range: XS to XL
- Promising Review: “This sweatshirt is so nice I can hardly believe it's from Amazon. The fabric is heavier and maintains its shape really well, giving a boxy-but-relaxed look. Stitching and seams are all good, no complaints to speak of, and it even maintains the softness of the fleece inside after several washes.”
Dr. Martens go with fall like apple cider goes with donuts. This classic combat style will be a closet favorite all year round (and for years to come, considering the brand's renowned durability), but they work particularly well in the colder months thanks to the sturdy leather exterior, strong stitching and water-resistant rubber soles. Plus, you’ll look totally badass in them whether you’re wearing a floral dress or a flannel shirt and leggings.

- Size Range: 5 to 11
- Promising Review: “I am so happy that I found these boots. They are very well-made, fit perfectly (I am a US size 8 and that's what I ordered) and I love the style. It's been years since I've had Docs and these do not disappoint.”
Shawls are overtaking the large scarf trend of last year, and this extra-large wool-blend one is great for travel days and all-around warmth. Versatile by nature, it can be worn multiple ways (draped over your shoulders, wrapped around your neck, etc.) and more than 1,000 Amazon shoppers have vouched for its quality by giving it a perfect 5-star review. Good thing there are nearly 15 to choose from!

PureWow editors and readers alike are obsessed with the famous faux leather leggings from Spanx. If you also love the look of those, but are hoping to spend a little less cash, these are probably the next best thing. Remember the cool silky midi skirts you ordered from dEliA*s back in the '90s? Yeah, they're back with a vengeance. This leopard-print version allows you to go grungy with combat boots or get a little more yee-haw with some cowboy kicks. It's also got a stretchy waist that means it won't feel suffocating after dinner. The best part? It's made of a blend of polyester and real silk, so the quality stands to surpass the price—just ask one of the style's thousands of reviewers.

Can't resist a classic plaid mini? Neither can we! PureWow Senior Commerce Editor Stephanie Maida purchased this beauty last fall and says she's gotten more than her share of wear out of it. "I was so impressed with the quality when I first took it out of the package. It feels soft, yet sturdy, and has a smooth inner lining that prevents any itchiness. Most importantly, it looks great on—I pair it with a sleek black turtleneck or bodysuit to feel like I just stepped out of a fall fashion catalog," she raves. More than looking cute, this printed skirt is constructed with a warm polyester and wool blend that will keep your upper legs cozy when the wind is howling. Amazon buyers noted that it can be a bit snug, since there's little to no stretch, so you may want to size up for a more comfortable fit.

Hobo makes some of the most well-organized, smartly designed bags around, and this little number is a prime example of the brand's genius. Just a pull on the strap will convert it from a traditional shoulder bag to a two-strap backpack. Regardless of how you choose to carry it, you'll have plenty of storage—it's got two exterior pockets, plus three more on the inside to keep your things in order. It's also crafted from a genuine, durable leather that shoppers can only describe as "buttery."

- Size Range: one size
- Promising Review: “Not only was it hands-free, but there [is] no more switching shoulders from side to side when one shoulder [can't] take it anymore...Another [positive?] When worn with the straps pulled, it folds up in such a way as to dissuade even the most seasoned pickpockets.”
There is quite possibly nothing more heritage prep than a classic Barbour jacket—even Kate Middleton is a fan. Boasting two front pockets, a corduroy collar and the brand's signature tartan lining, this waxed cotton jacket should keep you dry from the elements while serving as a chic nod to "quiet luxury." It's the ultimate apple-picking and vineyard cover, just note the European sizes should be sized up!

That's right, capris are back, y'all! For cool workwear that’s actually comfortable, look no further than these sleek pedal pushers that, IMO, have a total Parisian vibe. Throw on a striped top and leather ballet flats to really embody French girl fall.

This 100 percent cotton cardigan has those trendy country club vibes in spades thanks to its tweed knit and boxy cut that resembles a classic lady jacket. It's soft and thick per reviewers, so it's a good piece to reach for on days it's a little chilly but too warm for an actual jacket. Because it hits at the hip, it will also go perfectly with all your favorite jeans and riding boots. However, multiple buyers note that it runs a bit large, so you should consider sizing down if you're hoping to achieve that tailored look. (Psst: Apply the coupon to score it for 30 percent off at checkout!)

What Clothing Will Be Popular for Fall 2024?
Below, you'll find my experts' fall 2024 trend predictions—and suggestions for pieces that capture the season.
- Heritage style: "There are two versions of heritage style—there’s English countryside going on, which involves plaids, long skirts, wellies and a Barbour jacket. And [then] there’s the more American version, which is old school prep and old money," says Berlin. This was seen earlier on the Miu Miu runway, with polos, knits, pleated skirts and tailored pieces at the forefront. It's all very demure and very sporty luxury.
- Glove flats: For footwear, mesh flats will give way to glove flats, while T-strap shoes will make a strong statement.
- Bohemian: "There is a big return of boho for fall 2024, thanks to Chloe's stunning runway show for kicking off this trend once again. Crochet, long and breezy chiffon and lots of suede will dominate," says Brown. It's more of a sophisticated bohemian vibe this go around, though, one that feels very elevated but still has that free spirited vibe.
- Greens: Continuing from the summer, everything is green this season, but think more muted tones like pea green and olive green. "We went from Brat green this summer and now it’s going to be more of a demure green," says Teich.
- Leather: If you haven't already found your go-to leather jacket, now might be the time to invest in one of these timeless pieces, especially one with a faux fur or sheepskin twist (which you can find on my list above!).
