If an American Girl doll has been at the top of your kid's wish list, now is the time to take action. Several dolls are 30 percent off today only (October 8) as part of Amazon Prime Deal Days.

A sale on American Girl dolls is pretty rare, especially one so significant. Several of the brand's signature, 18-inch Truly Me dolls are discounted from $135 apiece to $95, and the deal includes three of the 14.5-inch WellieWishers, which are up to 25 percent off, bringing the price down to $49 to $56, depending on the style.

While the sale doesn't include historic dolls (sorry, Samantha and Addy fans), it does include a wide selection of modern-day American Girls, as well as the 2025 Girl of the Year, Summer McKinny, and World by Us Makena doll. The one thing to note is that you must be an Amazon Prime subscriber to take advantage of these discounts (but you can sign up for a free trial here).

Here are our top five picks, in case you'd like to do some early holiday—or birthday—shopping. (And if you're shopping for others on your list, yourself included, don't miss our roundup of the 97 best deals, as well as our top beauty finds and fashion picks.)

As part of the World By Us series, Makena is a doll that inspires thoughtful conversations as well as creative play. The soft-bodied, 18-inch doll comes with Makena: See Me, Hear Me, Know Me, a book aimed at readers 8 and up that tells the story of Makena experiencing and confronting racial injustice in her neighborhood.

"My child has not only enjoyed styling Makena’s hair and outfits but has also gained valuable insights from the book’s content," one Amazon reviewer shared. "It’s heartening to see a toy that encourages both imaginative play and social awareness."

Summer, the 2025 Girl of the Year, may be 8 years old, but she's a serious entrepreneur. The doll comes with an accompanying journal, which shares how she started a business baking and selling dog treats—and how she gets her dog to play nicely when her aunt's cat, Fettuccine, comes over to visit.

While American Girl is best known for its historic dolls, the Truly Me collection features a series of modern ones, with a mix of hairstyles and colors, skin tones and eye colors. Instead of having a backstory, the child chooses the doll and gets to tell their tale.

And after five years of interviewing kids for the Happy Kid Awards, I can tell you: The most popular styles are the ones with colorful highlights, like no. 101, shown here.

Speaking of Truly Me dolls with colorful hair, I had to call out doll no. 116, which had a wall of girls fawning over it the last time I visited the American Girl store in New York.

Aimed at a younger audience—kids 4 and up—WellieWishers are slightly smaller dolls, making them easier for younger kids to tote and play with. These dolls feature more whimsical outfits, and of the six characters in the series, three are on sale for Amazon Prime Day, including Ashlyn, the "princess-in-training and party planner of the group."
