American Girl Dolls Are Rarely on Sale, Which Makes This Prime Day Deal *Outrageous*

As part of the World By Us series, Makena is a doll that inspires thoughtful conversations as well as creative play. The soft-bodied, 18-inch doll comes with Makena: See Me, Hear Me, Know Me, a book aimed at readers 8 and up that tells the story of Makena experiencing and confronting racial injustice in her neighborhood.

While American Girl is best known for its historic dolls, the Truly Me collection features a series of modern ones, with a mix of hairstyles and colors, skin tones and eye colors. Instead of having a backstory, the child chooses the doll and gets to tell their tale.

Speaking of Truly Me dolls with colorful hair, I had to call out doll no. 116, which had a wall of girls fawning over it the last time I visited the American Girl store in New York.

Aimed at a younger audience—kids 4 and up—WellieWishers are slightly smaller dolls, making them easier for younger kids to tote and play with.
