This J.Lo Heist Thriller Just Hit #1 on Netflix & It’s Totally Worth the Watch

This thrilling heist movie is the latest throwback flick to randomly gain popularity on Netflix.

Introducing Parker, which stars Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez. The film originally premiered back in 2013, but it recently hit Netflix’s list of most-watched movies. (As of Friday, it ranked number one ahead of Training Day, The Dark Knight, Moxie and Bigfoot Family.)

The story mainly takes place in Palm Beach, Florida, and follows Parker (Statham), who’s one of the most successful thieves. Although he has an impressive track record, things take a turn for the worse when he’s double crossed by a careless crew member during a heist, which causes an unnecessary fatality.

As a result, Parker declines the crime boss’s next mission, ultimately putting a massive target on his back. Parker is forced to assume a new disguise and team up with an unlikely partner-in-crime (Lopez) in an attempt to hijack the gang’s next gig.

In addition to Statham and Lopez, Parker also stars Michael Chiklis (Melander), Wendell Pierce (Carlson), Clifton Collins Jr. (Ross), Bobby Cannavale (Jake), Patti LuPone (Ascension), Carlos Carrasco (Norte) and Emma Booth (Claire).

Although Parker is based on the novel Flashfire by Donald E. Westlake, the screenplay was written by John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan). Taylor Hackford (Ray) directed the movie.
