This Denzel Washington Movie Is the #9 Flick on Netflix (& Wow, It's Intense)

Netflix is known for providing us with a variety of original content. However, we also love when we see a classic film land a spot on the streaming platform's top ten list. While yesterday it was The Dark Knight, today it’s Denzel Washington’s Training Day.

The 2001 film, which is officially the number nine movie on Netflix’s most popular list, follows an idealistic rookie cop who spends his first day as a Los Angeles narcotics officer with a mad dog detective who isn't as by the books as he seems. Oh, and did we mention the flick also stars Ethan Hawke?

Watch the full trailer below.

Training Day’s official synopsis reads, “Officer Jake Hoyt spends his first day as a Los Angeles narcotics officer with Detective Sergeant Alonzo Harris who blurs the line between what's legal and corrupt. Denzel Washington delivers an Academy Award-winning performance opposite Ethan Hawke in the 2001 film directed by Antoine Fuqua.”

Washington’s stellar performance isn’t the only recognition the intense cop drama received. Critics also gave the movie pretty impressive reviews online (it even landed a 73 percent critic review and an 89 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes).

In addition to Washington and Hawke, the film also stars Scott Glenn (The Silence of the Lamb), Tom Berenger (Inception), Harris Yulin (Scarface), Raymond J. Barry (Just Married), Cliff Curtis (Whale Rider), Dr. Dre (Straight Outta Compton), Eva Mendes (Hitch) and Snoop Dogg (Starsky & Hutch).

We officially have weekend plans.
