Netflix's New #1 Movie Is Basically ‘The Lorax’ Meets ‘Finding Nemo’

It can be hard to find a movie that appeases the whole family but isn't Frozen 2 for the eightieth time. Luckily, over the weekend, many households discovered the answer with Bigfoot Family—which has become the new #1 movie on Netflix.

The animated feature is the sequel to the 2017 film The Son of Bigfoot, with voice work by Jules Wojciechowski, Roger Craig Smith, Grant George and Shyloh Oostwald, among others. However, you won't need to watch the first to enjoy this action-packed adventure.

Check out the trailer below.

The movie takes the age-old myth of Bigfoot and puts a brand new spin on it. At the beginning of the film, Bigfoot (who is also a dad) has become a celebrity and he wants to use his newfound fame for good. So, when he finds out that an oil company is trying to drill within a wildlife reserve, he put his (big) foot down. However, when he mysteriously goes missing, his son and wife must go searching for him, while also trying to save the forest.

This movie takes the "lost character" plotline of Finding Nemo and the environmental messaging of The Lorax to make a pretty enjoyable hybrid. In the synopsis for the movie, Netflix writes, "Bigfoot’s now a big deal. So when he goes missing, his shy but tech-savvy teen son must take on an evil CEO to save his family and a wildlife preserve."

Bigfoot Family was directed by Ben Stassen and Jeremy Degruson, with production by Stassen, Caroline Van Iseghem and Matthieu Zeller.

With so many animated films to choose from on Netflix, this is definitely one to check out. And if you hate it, there's always Frozen 2 again...
