8 Summer Beauty Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 2022

Now that summer is almost here, we’re ready to jump into the season's beauty trends, cannonball-style. With the help of makeup artist Katey Denno (aka the talented hands behind some of Mindy Kaling's best looks), we're sharing our predictions for the top trends that will be making a splash in the months ahead.

Well, This Is a Bang Trend We Didn’t See Coming Back

1. 'euphoria' Lite

"We're not saying goodbye to the Euphoria inspired looks just yet. The fun wings and lines and bright washes of color on the lids will continue to abound, but they’re softening a bit," says Denno.

Get the look: Ere Perez Jojoba Eye Pencil ($23); Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($22); Exa Light Show Color Melt Multi-Use Pigment ($22)

2. Strawberry Strands

As recently reported, shades of strawberry red are extra hot this season. Whether you're a natural blonde or a brunette, the vibrant hue offers a fresh alternative to the beach-blonde highlights that typically dominate this time of year.

Get the look: Good Dye Young Semi-Permanent Hair Color ($18)

3. Fresh Glow

Picture that soft glow you get when you're basking in the sun during golden hour. "This type of glow comes more from good skincare, rather than layers of highlighter," explains Denno. "For this, I recommend regular, gentle exfoliation and keeping your foundation and concealer to a minimum, with juicy pops of color focused more on the lips or cheeks."

Get the look: AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder ($68); Saie Dew Blush Liquid Cheek Blush ($24); Ilia Balmy Gloss ($26)

4. Face Bedazzling

Another way to brighten up your look this summer? Artfully placed face gems, which can be as scattered or as precise as you want them to be, as seen on Dua Lipa here. Tip: Always apply gems as the last step of your makeup routine, and prep the area with a matte setting powder first for better adhesion.

Get the look: ColourPop Mixed Crystal Reusable Face Jewels ($7); Pley Beauty Love Child Pley Things ($24); Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($39)

5. Spiky Buns

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. That is, indeed, a spiky bun you're seeing on Gen Z TikTok queen, Dixie D’Amelio...in 2022. 20 years later, the look is back (signature two strands in front of the face and everything).

Get the look: Goody Ouchless Womens Elastic Hair Tie ($5); Ghd Original Styler 1" Flat Iron ($169)

6. All Pink Everything

Call it the Rihanna effect. Ever since the singer (and beauty mogul) announced her pregnancy earlier this year in an all pink look that extended to her cheeks, lips, and lids, we've been seeing more of the exuberant hue everywhere.

Get the look: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush ($22); Dior Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss ($35); Kaja Beauty Bento Bouncy Eyeshadow Trio ($26)

7. Blinged Out Nails

In case you haven't picked up on this already, maximalism is very much having a moment right now. And it makes sense, given the deluge of doom and gloom we've collectively experienced over the past couple of years. Not too keen on bedazzling your face? You could try blinging out your nails instead.

Get the look: Huetfat Nail Art Rhinestones Kit ($7)

8. The Return Of Statement Lips

After two years of mask wearing (and a subsequent decline in lipstick sales), people are breaking out their bright tubes once again. Whether you opt for a classic red lip, a neon orange or a shiny pink, the options are endless.

Get the look: Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede® Lipstick ($24)
