We saw a lot of beauty trends pop up in 2022, but one that’s had staying power is barbiecore. And with the upcoming release of the Barbie movie in a few months, there’s one shade that will be everywhere this spring: baby pink. Worn on your lips, cheeks and/or eyelids, this soft hue is endlessly flattering. We'll show you what we mean ahead.

6 Millennial Beauty Trends We Can’t Get Enough of in 2023

First, off, we assure you: Baby pink can work on anyone. This specific shade of pink offers a soft, natural finish that’s not too overpowering and it has a way of illuminating your entire complexion. The secret is to keep your base neutral before applying the hue to areas that highlight your features (aka the cheeks, lids and lips).

Why Is It So Popular Now?

Though there’s nothing new or groundbreaking about wearing pink—especially for spring—it’s a nice palette cleanser from the bolder, more dramatic looks that were trending towards the end of last year (hello, grunge makeup). You can see shades of soft pink featured heavily in popular TikTok trends like coquette makeup, light feminine aesthetic and cold girl makeup

We're also seen pink pop up everywhere during this year’s awards season, where pink has been popping up everywhere. Most recently, Zendaya attended the 29th SAG Awards dolled up in baby pink makeup that complimented her stunning Valentino gown. Other examples include Rihanna at the 80th Golden Globes, Kacey Musgraves at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and Noah Cyrus at the Fendi Fall 2023 show in Milan. Bottom line: Pink is in and we’re not mad about it.

How to Wear Baby Pink Makeup

Our suggestion for diving into the trend is to wear it as a monochromatic look. Have fun and apply a bit of pink everywhere, baby. Eyes? Yes. Lips? Yes. Cheeks? Yes. And if you’re not ready to go full on pink with your entire look, there’s also the option to just wear it in one of three ways.

To Wear It As Blush

ICYMI: Blush has had a major resurgence recently. (See: The sunburnt trend or draping method.) To get the prettiest pink flush, apply blush to your cheeks and nose. Another helpful tip that creator @beautyybylucyy shared is to layer a powder pink blush over a cream one in a similar tone to really make the color (and your cheekbones) pop.

To Wear It As Eyeshadow

The cool-toned hue is fetching on your lids, too. Grab your favorite pink eyeshadow palette and dab the hue onto the center of your eyelids. You can also add a dash of pink under your eyes or try a baby pink design like creator @reitxmakeup here. To elevate the look even more, add a shimmery shadow on top (and on the inner corners of your eyes) to get a full glam effect.

To Wear It On Lips

The most classic way to wear baby pink makeup? On your pout, of course. Grab a tinted lip balm, stain or lipstick and go to town. Bonus points if you add gloss on top for extra shine.

Alright, now who's ready to be pretty in pink this season?
