“Season [three] finale but my goodness we are just scratching the surface,” Metz wrote. “See you all tomorrow, Tuesday night, at 9/8c. #ThisIsUs.” We’re “just scratching the surface?!”
Since the episode focuses in part on Kate and Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) premature baby boy, Jack, we can’t help but wonder what this means for him. It appears a nurse will try to get him to breathe on his own outside of an incubator, so something could go awry there. Parenthood is a long journey with a healthy child, but perhaps baby Jack could end up needing special care. Another option? Since Toby struggled with depression earlier in the season, Fogelman might strike a cruel little juxtaposition and Kate may begin to suffer from postpartum depression.
Metz’s fellow cast members, Justin Hartley (Kevin) and Mandy Moore (Rebecca) also alluded to the episode being major and posted the promo on Instagram. Hartley, 42, wrote, “It’s the episode you’ve all been waiting for. The season finale. #ThisIsUs,” while Moore, 34, captioned the video, “We’re closing the chapter on another season, but the story is really just getting started. Tomorrow, join us for the season 3 finale. #ThisIsUs”
Basically, the possibilities are endless. Guess we’ll just have to wait until the This Is Us season finale premieres tonight on NBC at 9 p.m. PT/ET.
