‘The Matrix: Resurrections’ Trailer Is Finally Here (& We Almost Missed that Glimpse of Priyanka Chopra's New Character)

It’s official: Keanu Reeves has re-entered the Matrix. Warner Brothers just dropped the first official trailer for The Matrix: Resurrections.

The trailer, which is set to Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit,” reintroduces fans to Keanu Reeves’s Neo (now known as Thomas A. Anderson), who has a blue pill dependency and continues to relive events of the past films—only he believes they are just dreams. The footage also shows Neo’s reunion with Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss). However, they don’t remember one another.

Later in the clip, we also see a young Morpheus (played by newcomer Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) telling Neo that “it’s time to fly” while handing him a red pill. Watch the full trailer below.

Not surprisingly, only an hour after being released, the trailer had nearly one million views on YouTube.

In addition to Reeves and Moss, the fourth installment will also see the return of Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt. Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Christina Ricci, Jonathan Groff and Jessica Henwick have also joined the cast in undisclosed roles. (However, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Chopra is briefly seen reading a copy of Alice Through the Looking-Glass in the clip.)

The film comes from Lana Wachowski who wrote and directed the first three films in the groundbreaking franchise. The Matrix originally premiered in 1999, followed by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.

The Matrix: Resurrections premieres December 22, 2021 simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. We’ll be there.
