Calling all Sweet Magnolias fans! Looks like we’ll be returning to Serenity once again because Netflix has just renewed the series for a third season. This comes a few months after the highly anticipated second season premiered on the platform. In honor of this recent news, we’ll tell you everything there is to know about the new season.

Keep scrolling for details about Sweet Magnolias season three.

1. Will 'Sweet Magnolias' return for season 3?

Yes! Netflix has officially renewed Sweet Magnolias for season three, according to Deadline. Earlier this week, JoAnna García Swisher celebrated the season renewal on Instagram. While sharing a snapshot of herself standing beside her two co-stars, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley, she wrote in the caption, “We are back! Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias is happening!”

2. What is 'Sweet Magnolias' about?

Sweet Magnolias (which is based on the best-selling book series by Sherryl Woods) tells the story of three childhood best friends—Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue—who never left their hometown of Serenity, South Carolina.

Season two ended on several cliffhangers, with (spoiler alert!) Ronnie and Dana Sue reuniting. Also, fans saw the tragic death of Miss Frances (Cindy Karr) with Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue in mourning. But, nothing surprised fans more than Ryan’s proposal to Helen, which left her (and us) beyond shocked.
