Serena Williams Shares Video Collage on Instagram, Tracing Her Journey from a Young Tennis Player to Now

While we're used to seeing Serena Williams tear up the tennis court as an adult, it's not often that we get to see shots from when her sports journey began. Of course, we got a fictionalized version of those years thanks to the Best Picture-nominated drama King Richard, where Williams and her sister, Venus, were played (impressively) by Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton. But now, it looks like Williams is pulling out some *actual* photos from her early days on the tennis court.

The younger Williams sister shared a series of black-and-white snaps in a new video collage that she posted to Instagram. She captioned the clip, “My favorite video. Photo Credit: @gettyimages / Ken Levine.”

The video starts out with pics of a young Williams swinging her racket and running around on the tennis court in white skirts and matching tops. In one snap, Williams is seen smiling and holding her racket, while standing next to her older sister. The following photo shows the two leaning on a net as they smile for a different photo.

When the video reaches the final throwback, it suddenly turns to color and we see a grown Williams standing in a room and admiring the many trophies and awards she has collected over the years (including 4 Olympic gold medals and 7 Wimbledon titles, nbd).

Fans showed their love for the video in the comments, like one user who said, “The journey is literally the best part.” Another called her the “greatest of all time,” while adding, “Respect you for all you've done in this sport and being a culture changer.”

It's certainly been quite a journey for Serena. As she continues on her journey, we hope she keeps sharing rare throwbacks like these.
