Kerry Washington just broke not one, not two, but three major fashion rules—and we don’t mind one bit. And fortunately, she documented the entire thing on social media.
Yesterday, the Little Fires Everywhere star, 44, posted a slideshow of never-before-seen photos on Instagram, featuring herself committing three style “faux pas”: being overdressed, showing underboob and wearing white after Labor Day. But with a look this good, you won’t hear us complaining.
While the first photo is a closeup shot of Washington, the second offers a full-length glimpse of her dress, which is from Mônot’s spring/summer 2021 collection. What makes the gown so unique is the revealing bodice, which is completely open from the neck to the middle of her stomach. There’s a thin piece of fabric that stretches across the cut-out—that way, her chest is covered, but she’s still showing some skin.
Washington is also donning a monochrome pair of heels by Christian Louboutin. Although we don’t know the exact style she’s wearing, they look awfully similar to the Iriza Leather Pumps ($651).
The caption read, “Break all the rules.” Washington also added a few hashtags: “#OverDressed #UnderBoob #WhiteAfterLaborDay #BeYou.”
Fans immediately filled the comments section with words of praise for the actress’s rule-breaking ensemble. One person wrote, “White out those damn rules!!” Another added, “You look beautiful in that dress [heart emojis] bold [heart emojis].” Even Orange Is the New Black alum Uzo Aduba said what we’re all thinking: “Gorgeous and I looooove the hair!”
Leave it to Washington to break all the rules (and look good while doing it).
