Kate Middleton Has Zero Time for Heavy Earrings & We Have Proof

She paired the baubles with a red tartan-print dress that was reportedly Emilia Wickstead and her signature bouncy blow-out. The duchess even took Princess Charlotte’s go-to move for a spin (hello, royal wave). As you’ll notice above, Princess Charlotte looked very excited by it all. 

Interestingly, Middleton left the event that evening with Prince William at the wheel, a tired looking Princess Charlotte in the back and no earrings in her ears.

It’s not clear exactly what happened, but we’ve all worn earrings that were too heavy or uncomfortable and counted down the moments until we could take them off. (That’s our guess as to what caused the costume change.) Another theory? Perhaps she borrowed them from Queen Elizabeth, 93, and opted to return them while she was in such close proximity to the royal treasure trove at the palace. (She does borrow jewelry from Her Majesty on the reg.)

No matter the reason, we love the idea of K-Middy kicking off her heels and removing her earrings after a few casual glasses of wine with the queen.
