Jonathan Owens Shares Tribute to Girlfriend Simone Biles After Her Bronze Medal Win

Jonathan Owens is one proud boyfriend. The 26-year-old NFL player just shared a sweet tribute to Simone Biles following her bronze medal win.

On Tuesday, the 24-year-old competed in the fifth (and final) individual event for gymnastics at this year’s Tokyo Olympics—the balance beam final. And after a difficult few weeks, Biles managed to earn herself a bronze medal with a score of 14.000.

And while Biles herself admitted that she wasn’t expecting to take home a medal, her boyfriend revealed that he couldn’t have been more proud. Following the exciting news, Owens shared a sweet message to Biles on his Instagram Story. “Words can’t explain how proud I am of you right now!!” he wrote alongside a photo of his girlfriend.

In addition, he also reshared a post from the Bleacher Report, which listed the champion's stats including seven Olympic medals, 25 world championship medals and four gymnastic skills named after her.

The exciting win comes after Biles had exited the team final last week after experiencing the “twisties”, a mental phenomenon that results in a gymnast no longer being able to perform a trick. The champion subsequently withdrew from all her other individual event finals including all-around, vault, bars and floor.

After choosing to focus on her mental health, the 24-year-old received an outpouring of support from Owens, who posted another tribute to his “baby” on Instagram.

“Imma ride with you through whatever baby. Your strength and courage are unmatched and you inspire me more and more every day SB,” he captioned a slideshow featuring two pics of Biles. “You always gone be my champ baby and don’t you ever forget that I love you so much and i can’t wait till you come home and i get to see that beautiful smile again. You know I’m always here for you baby.” He simply signed the post, “-JO.”
