Joanna Gaines is no stranger to sharing heartfelt family moments on social media, whether she’s celebrating a birthday, a major milestone or one of those big life transitions that makes you want to hit pause on time. Now, she’s offering a little comfort to fellow parents navigating the emotional reality of sending their kids off to college.

On August 16, Joanna, 48, shared a carousel of six photos featuring her family and a message for parents in the middle of college send-off season. She shares five children (Drake, 21, Ella, 19, Duke, 18, Emmie, 16, and Crew, 8) with husband Chip Gaines, 51.

The photos included Joanna hugging her son, a suitcase and bag waiting at the bottom of a stairwell, a group hug with her children, a 2025 graduation cap, her daughter taking a photo and Joanna walking through a field with her two daughters. Each image was paired with part of her heartfelt message.

"To all the parents sending their kids off to college," the message began. "I know that feeling all too well."

"Holding on a little tighter before letting go. Feeling proud of who they're becoming and wishing time would slow down," the post continued. "But there's nothing more fulfilling than watching your kids grow beyond you. I'm feeling it with you."

In the caption, Joanna got even more candid about the mix of emotions that comes with move-in day.

"Thinking of all the parents sending their kids off to college this season. I’ve been on that side of move-in day, so I know the wide range of emotions well."

She continued, "As hard as that goodbye is, there’s nothing more fulfilling than watching your kid grow beyond you—it’s one of the greatest gifts of being a parent. May you find joy, comfort, and gratitude in the letting go."

The post comes shortly after the Fixer Upper star shared a glimpse of a family getaway to Colorado. Set to “The Mountains are Calling” by Citizen Wild, the reel showed the Gaines family enjoying some quality time in the mountains, from breathtaking views to a few wholesome family adventures.

Joanna was seen helping Crew build a fort from logs and branches, while Ella and Emmie made their way across rocks in a river. The family also walked together along a sunny trail through the hills.
