Kristen Bell’s character Joanne in season 1 of Nobody Wants This was all about over-the-top dressing. As she admits in the pilot episode when Noah comments on her chinchilla fur coat, “I’m just in constant need for attention.” But for season 2, Joanne is much more comfort-forward—perhaps a sign of her comfort with Noah? This time around, she’s swapped the dramatically low necklines and sexy cutouts for something a bit more casual, though no less trendy: stripes. Yes, the preppy wardrobe staple is majorly trending right now, and I fully plan on using Nobody Wants This as my outfit inspiration.

‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Is Finally Here—But Is it as Good as Season 1?

From the rise of preppy fashion (or the modern variation of the old-school classic), rugby shirts and pinstripes, it makes total sense that the timeless pattern is back in the zeitgeist. High fashion darling Miu Miu went all in on the trend for its F/W ‘25 collection, but affordable mall brands like GAP and LOFT are leaning into horizontal stripes just as much.

As for the ways in which Joanne is styling them, I’m definitely planning to lean into both preppy and eclectic aesthetics. Polo collars, be it on a sweater, short sleeve or rugby dress, are everywhere and a super-fun way to balance out a sexy slip skirt or professional tailored trousers. And while you can never go wrong with navy-and-white or other classic color duos, I’m taking a page out of Joanne’s book and opting for more unexpected variations instead. Think yellow and olive green with a pop of red, or brown with navy and white.

Read on for seven striped styles inspired by season 2 of Nobody Wants This for your very own Kristen Bell-inspired fall wardrobe.

This deliciously soft cashmere sweater combines multiple shades of brown to create one very chic stripe pattern. It is designed for a slim fit, just FYI, so if you prefer a bit more wiggle room, you’ll probably want to size up.

A flirty twist on a classic rugby shirt, this minidress has a contrasting white collar and adorable balloon sleeve. It also has pockets (score!) and comes in three different color combinations, each one cooler than the next.

I’m obsessed with the ‘80s vibes of this vertical-striped button-up and can so picture Joanne rocking this exact style. Go all in on the Nobody Wants This inspo and pair it with a tissue turtleneck tee, some high-waist trousers and a statement belt.

Who knew beige, maroon and orange was such a gorgeous color combination? Just be sure to hand wash or dry-clean this beauty to keep the super-soft wool looking and feeling as luscious as the day you got it.

The multi-colored stripes and white rugby-inspired collar balance out the sexiness of this curve-hugging sweater dress, giving it even more versatility. Wear it with some knee-high boots and a leather jacket for happy hour drinks, or with simple sneakers and a shacket for weekend errands.

This Old Navy sweater truly lives up to its “SoSoft” name—you’re not going to want to take it off. Plus, it comes in both tall and petite sizes so you know that cropped fit will fit exactly right, no matter your height.

A tried-and-true classic, red, white and navy stripes are never a bad choice. Follow your inner Joanne and tuck this cutie into a pair of wide-leg jeans, and don’t forget a belt with a notable gold buckle to finish your ‘fit in style.
