Part of being a celebrity? Navigating fan interactions. Whether it’s posing for a quick selfie, accepting a teddy bear or just smiling and saying “hi,” it’s kind of part of the gig. And after enough run-ins with fans, you start to notice some patterns. Kristen Bell recently shared one very unexpected trend she’s picked up on, thanks to her Netflix show Nobody Wants This.

During an interview with Today, Bell and her co-star Adam Brody were asked, “What do people say to you on the street when they come up to you?”

Kristen’s answer? Surprisingly specific.

“Can I be honest? Here's an unforeseen demographic,” she began. “This has happened to me—I'm going to say, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating—six times. A girl from my choir class was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start watching your show. I haven’t seen it yet. My dad told me to watch it.’”

She added, “I’m not joking. Everybody’s dad has seen this show and is telling their daughters to watch it. Like, a bunch of my friends are saying this.”

Brody chimed in to confirm, “Yeah, parents and grandparents.” “Dads love it!” Kristen said, laughing.

In Nobody Wants This, Bell plays Joanne, an agnostic sex podcaster who unexpectedly falls for a devout rabbi named Noah, played by Brody. The show debuted on Netflix in September 2024 and was renewed just a month later. Season two is now set to premiere this October—and it’s bringing some familiar faces with it.

Leighton Meester (aka Brody’s real-life wife and Gossip Girl royalty) will join the cast as Abby, a picture-perfect mommy influencer who also happens to be Joanne’s childhood nemesis. No word yet on whether she’ll cross paths with Noah, but something tells me there’s plenty of drama ahead.

Nobody Wants This season one is streaming now on Netflix.
