Instead of toting a tiny top-handle bag à la sis-in-law Kate Middleton, or rocking her late mother-in-law's favorite Dior Lady D-Lite purse like she did nearly a year ago at Global Citizen Live in Central Park, Meghan Markle opted for two different—but equally on-trend—oversized leather clutches during her and husband Prince Harry's quick return to the Big Apple. Although the main reason for their return to NYC was Prince Harry's touching UN speech in honor of Nelson Mandela Day, the couple made time for a bit of fun. For a date night out to Tribeca's Locanda Verde with two friends, Meghan rocked a stunning two-tone jumpsuit by Gabriela Hearst (delightfully reminiscent of the Duchess of Cambridge's Top Gun 2 premiere look) and carried a woven Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Leather Pouch in a darkish red shade called Yoke/Truffle.

And earlier that day, when meeting Gloria Steinem for a lunch date (as one does...) at the British-themed Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, the Duchess opted for another clamshell-shaped clutch, this time a beaded leather bag from female-founded and LA-based Cult Gaia. The daytime-appropriate look—navy Bermuda shorts and white button-down—felt instantly elevated with the coordinating accessories of the chestnut-brown carry-all, suede pumps and leather belt.
