Let's Decode the Easter Eggs in Taylor Swift's Emmys Sketch

Despite the fact that she was nominated for five Emmys for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, Swift opted to skip TV's biggest night. Instead, she was at Arrowhead Stadium supporting husband Travis Kelce for the Kansas City Chiefs' first game of the season. (Side note: They won, 31-10, against the Denver Broncos.)

Though she wasn't at the Emmys in person, Swift was there in spirit, surprising the audience with a Law & Order: SVU sketch in which she played a rookie detective. Swift being Swift, it was brimming with potential Easter eggs, and the conclusion is something I've been saying for months.

The sketch parodied Emmys host Mariska Hargitay's long-running crime show, of which Swift has been a longtime fan. (One of her cats is named Olivia Benson after Hargitay's character.) The four-minute sketch saw Benson and her team deducing whether or not Swift would attend the awards show, humorously incorporating other nominees into the crime boards that attempted to piece together clues. Swift then appears as a rookie detective

"I don't think everything is a clue," she tells Benson's puzzled team.

"It is to the Swifties," Benson replies.

"I think what we're going to be looking for is hiding in plain sight," Swift quips back. She then addresses the camera directly: "Saccharide, Aries, from the vineyard, north or south."

At first, it sounds like a bunch of gibberish. But after a little sleuthing, I think that the four phrases are pointing to something I've been saying for months. Swift is headed back to her country roots, and she's releasing Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version).

According to one Twitter post, fans believe that the zodiac reference is really a stand-in for Swift's 12 studio albums. Her call-out to Aries, the first sign, is potentially pointing towards her first eponymous album. Another theory is that "from the Vineyard" is just an allusion to "From the Vault," the term Swift has used when releasing new songs onto old albums that didn't make the original final cut. The other clue offering evidence to Swift's country roots is "north or south," which fans have taken to mean Pennsylvania/Tennessee, the two states in which she spent her childhood. Some postulate that the string of words aren't literal clues at all, but rather titles of future Vault tracks.

As for when all this news may drop, the fans have yet more clues. Some say December 3, the date that the Kansas City Chiefs play the Los Angeles Rams—rams being the animal symbol for Aries. Others think her line about hiding in plain sight is referencing her song "Dear Reader," the 20th track on the deluxe version of her tenth album, Midnights, making a case for a news drop on October 20.

If Swift is indeed re-releasing Taylor Swift, then all I can say is, I knew it. From her Toy Story 5 collab to interviews she's recently given, all the hints are pointing towards a country homecoming. But who knows? She could be trolling us.
