This brand-new Netflix series is like a cross between Revenge and Succession.
The streaming service just dropped the first official trailer for its upcoming South African show Savage Beauty, which follows a young woman who joins forces with the powerful family of a cosmetics empire. What could possibly go wrong?
In the trailer, we’re introduced to the gripping story line, beginning when Zinhle is named the face of Bhengu Beauty. As a result, she moves into the family’s mansion, which is brimming with dark secrets.
“You’ll get used to this place,” someone says in the clip. “Even the royal bitchiness herself.”
It doesn’t take long for the family to realize that they have an “enemy” lurking among them. “He has to live so that he sees us destroy everything he loves,” Zinhle says. And then adds, “If we pull it off, it's over for Don and Grace.”
Cast members include Rosemary Zimu, Dumisani Mbebe, Nthati Moshesh, Angela Sithole, Jesse Suntele, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi and Oros Mampofu. Savage Beauty was created by Lebogang Mogashoa (A Man’s World).
Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Seeking revenge for her tragic past, a mysterious woman embeds herself in a powerful family who possess a global beauty empire—and dark secrets.”
The question is: Can Bhengu Beauty survive what’s to come? Guess we’ll have to wait until Savage Beauty hits Netflix on May 12 to find out.
